My church returns to its traditional roots

This is my church: saintpetersthunderbay.com/ Lately the parish has been undergoing major renovations. For example, they are restoring the original hard wood floors no more carpet, building a ramp for us old folks. However, the 3 most significant changes is the priest got out of storage the two angels( we used to have them on display in the 1930-1940’s) and we have gotten rid of the tabernacle and are putting the host in the old pre-vatican two tabernacle and finally the priest has began wearing the pre-vatican two vestments the church had in storage. As a side note he even wears black vestments to funerals like they used to. My question is it just me or does it look promising that we are going to return to the latin mass at my church? Let me know what you think

PS: The church has always been traditionally minded we never got rid of our old tabernacle after Vatican 2.
 
Your story is truly wonderful, and I wish my parish would follow in the steps of yours.
 
From your comments, I would not be surprised if your pastor introduces one. He is obviously quite friendly to tradition and continuity. I don’t know that he would make all Masses in Latin, but again, I would not be surprised if he introduces one once a week or something like that.

By “pre-Vatican II vestments” do you mean chasubles of this shape:

These are perfectly allowed for use in the Ordinary Form of the Mass, that is, the Mass as celebrated commonly in the vernacular. Not that you implied that they aren’t, but I just wanted to say that.
 
Almost perfect; now you just need to push the Novus Ordo altar out of the way for a return to the High Altar. Accommodated with, of course, the Latin Mass.
 
We even have people that wear vail coverings in our church. However, im 82 years old and I dont think ill live long enough to see a latin mass at my church again. However, I asked the bishop if he would allow for latin masses to be celebrated at our church and he said hed think about it. Ever since then their has been talk that one is coming?
 
Do you mean thing on the priest? That is just a real Gothic chasuble.
 
I know I was just telling you that our priests never wore the type in the picture you posted.

I too prefer the Roman, however, these Gothic Chasubles, especially the conical ones are nice. Would the priest still wear the maniple (I wish they would bring these back)?

The church has alot of memories for me I was married their 61 years ago in September of this year. My husband died last year just a few days after our 60th wedding anniversary. I attended this church with my mother for 75 years until she passed away in 2006. The church is not the same as it was many of my friends are no longer here. Also, I cant get to mass as much as I used to because my hips hurt quite a bit and I tire easily because of it.
 
I have been to a church that also has a High and Low Altars, and your St. Peter’s reminds me of another St. Peters I’ve been to. Really, a lovely parish.
I never thought about a priest wearing a Roman Chasuble for an Ordinary Form. Would he wear a maniple then?

Roman chasubles are completely fine for wear in the OF. No, a maniple would not be worn, unfortunately. In my opinion, a Roman chasuble especially looks terribly orphaned without a maniple.

As a matter of fact this is not the church I grew up in I was baptised Ukranian Catholic. Here it is: ucet.ca/in-our-parishes_245.htm (scroll down to Transfigeration of our lord Thunder Bay and you will see what it looks like) It was right across the street from St,Peters. I actually had my Byzantine wedding service inside St.peters. Now I dont even know what they do anymore- too many books and the order of service and some of the prayers are different now. Also, its too long last time I went I stayed for 1 and 45 minutes. My hips were killing me now I dont go to funerals their anymore
