My Confirmation is Coming Up!

Y’all. I am so dang excited. I have an amazing sponsor, an amazing saint, and it is going to be in the Extraordinary Form! (EEP!!) So the date is getting closer. How can I spiritually prepare? I have a novena to the Holy Spirit I am going to do with my sponsor and spiritual director before. But other than that… HOW? I also have a problem: A dress cannot be found. We have to dress in white, but all the white dresses are either frumpy or hoochy-mama. I am a fan of ModCloth, Ruche, and Shabby Apple. If any of y’all could link up to modest, yet attractive (I know, modesty is attractive, but some people think modesty=“Mary’s Guidelines to Modest Dress.” No thanks.) dresses that are off-white or ivory, that would be FAB. Since a lot of the families in the congregation of this Latin Mass community are SUPER conservative, I would prefer right below or at the knee plus longer than short-sleeve. Normally, I’d be ok with above the knee and sleeveless (don’t shoot me. I don’t want this to dissolve into another modesty debate) but I have been heavily reprimanded by some families. I just want to avoid scandalizing. I’m still going to rock a pair of bright red, Holy Spirit power heels! Ok. Spritiual prep and dress. Go!
 
This might be in the wrong thread, but hey! Confirmation is an important sacrament, eh!

Prayer, fasting, and studying the Faith is the best way to prepare for entrance into the Church. Since it is Lent, I assume that you are doing all three. This is how the Early Church prepared catechumens for Baptism and Confirmation. 🙂 I can’t help you with the dress. 😉

My SD recently banned me from any fasting, but I am doing the other two! Or at least trying.

Thank you! Please pray for me! I am so prone to sin. Mine is St. Jehanne-Marie d’Arc. Such a feminist I am.
 
Congratulations. I’m glad to hear of more converts into the one true Church.

Mine won’t be until next year, but I’m praying for those who are soon going through the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Edit: Also, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but when did you know you wanted her as your Saint?

Oh, I am not a convert! hahah! Well, my sponsor and I were praying about a saint. I was really indecisive. I jumped from saint to saint. As we were praying, St. Jehanne kept appearing in our day to day lives. So we decided to pray a novena to her. It was confirmed! (no pun intended) My diocese does confirmation very late. Junior year. Just how it has been done since our diocese was instituted.
 
Usually when clothing stores start setting out Easter dresses you can find a nice, modest white dress. If all else fails, a white cardigan or blazer over it will be fine. Congrats on your Confirmation!

My apologizes, I didn’t mean to wrongfully assume you were in the RCIA. My instructor told me the age he went through Confirmation when he was in school and since then I assumed all cradle Catholics generally go through Confirmation at the age he did.

Interesting in how you found her. I know it’s early but there is an individual Saint’s story that really speaks to me and I assume when my Confirmation happens I’ll have Saint George as my Saint.
