I’m very worried. My husband and I are using NFP to delay pregnancy. I’ve been charting for few years now between the births of our children and know my regular cycles. But last couple months I’ve had my shortest and longest cycles. This month, though it looks like I ovulated on day 17, I’m on day 32 and my cycle still hasn’t started :/. I’m very nervous I may be preg. I took a preg test on day 30 (bec my cycles are usually 27-29 days) but it was negative. Its day 32 now and I’m scared. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks for listening.
God bless.

Hi CMcS

What charting system are you using? Are you temping? Are your temps still above the cover-line? Have you had any recent health issues that have coincided with the short and longer cycles? Are you peri-menopausal?

I know it’s really stressful, but this could just be another long cycle for you.

God Bless.

I once had a false negative, so it is better to test a few days after period is due.

How do you feel? My PMS is normally quite different from how I feel when I’m pregnant.

Praying for you, I know this feeling

I’m using symptothermal. I usually stop charting once I know I’m safely in phase lll bec the last three years between my kids I’ve been so regular. Assuming I’m not pregnant, next month I’ll continue. I even use the couple to couple league app to double check me and it agreed I would have ovulated around day 17, but I just got nervousness bec my cervix was not as hard as usual. And now I’m day 32 with nothing, when I used to start by day 29. Before my kids I did have polycystic ovaries. I did think maybe that’s happening again?
Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut and support. I’m just not ready for another, would like to focus on the four I have for now.

It’s worth doing a pregnancy test in another few days.

Normally, 18 days of temperature rise establishes pregnancy, as you may remember, but in your case, who knows?.

I don’t know anything about PCOS, but it seems possible that pregnancies would disrupt the normal PCOS “pattern,” but that you may have been non-pregnant for long enough that your PCOS is reasserting yourself.

Also, as Galbin mentioned, you might be old enough that perimenopause is an issue. I’m 39, and had my youngest 21 months ago, and I’m noticing that compared to the past, I’m having slightly shorter cycles and less cervical mucus than previously, which raises the possibility that there’s some sort of ongoing hormonal shift underway.

If you don’t test pregnant within a week, I’d see the OB/GYN (or whatever higher specialist you use for your PCOS) anyway for some reassurance.

Best wishes!

if you are pregnant, try to consider it a blessing fom God. looking back, i wish we had had more children. God bless you!
