My dad thinks Jesus was a space alien?!

My dad who doesn’t go to mass very often and hasn’t been to confession since before I was born (I’m 37). Thinks Jesus was a space alien has anyone heard this claim and how do I dispute it.

He thinks pre Christian society was self destructive so that an alien was implanted in Mary and became Jesus to teach us morals so our species could be preserved from self destruction.
He also thinks Jesus was a space alien that resurrected after the crucifixion and then was assumed into heave “the space ship” in front of his apostles

But he doesn’t believe in heaven, hell, or the resurection because Jesus the space alien made all of it up to help our species

What possible response could there be? This is insanity. Plain and simple. Tell your dad that he needs more than speculation to back up what he is saying.

I make it a point to keep up with all of the fringe material published since the 1950s. Without naming any sources, there are a few that attempt to connect UFOs to the Bible and to “alien” origins of human beings, and unproven claims about who Jesus is. There is zero proof, just interesting stories that can convince the gullible.

Right now, there is zero evidence of any aliens on earth. No spaceship is mentioned in the Bible when Jesus ascended, bodily, into the clouds and beyond the sight of those watching.

Tell him that if he has that much free time on his hands, that he ought to find Bo Bo and go squatchin

If this story were true then the space aliens should have revisited during world war 1&2 and the Cold War, when we had a real chance of destroying ourselves

I’m sorry to say that I lol’ed at this thread title and then read it and realized you sound serious. I’m sorry and I’ll be praying for your dad. He sounds a little…well, crazy.

I to will say a prayer for you and your dad… I hope I did not offend you by thinking this was funny.
 
Perhaps if your dad read the New Testament, he might gain some further insights into what Jesus taught.
 
Short story he read the bible for the first time in 2010 after I said to him Jesus can not be just a nice guy and a good teacher as my father claimed but either God or crazy/ a liar.

He agreed with me that he must be God in 2012 and started going to mass with me a little but recently it has come to light that two of his brothers live as unrepentant adulters and my sister is in an open marriage.

So I think the above is his response for avoiding the docterine of Hell
Because other than not going to mass my father lives a fairly holy life but I have noticed he has major denials about sin and sinfull people

Maybe this alien theory of his is a recent defense mechanism
 
He is trying to process in his mind … the idea … “why do so many people reject Jesus?”

There is a very articulate person who speaks out … Michael Voris … on YouTube and also on his own video internet channel … www.churchmilitant.tv

Ask your dad to pick out a few to try.

Also, an extremely articulate priest, Father Robert Barron … on YouTube and on the video series on cable … EWTN and on some secular stations … AND he has a series called “Catholicism”.

Two excellent articulate spokesmen for the Church … who routinely encapsulate and explain things in short 6 - 8 minute segments.

Try them yourself and them pass them to your dad.
