My dad is in desperate need of prayers. He is going through a midlife crisis. He wants to take a 12 month leave of absence (unpaid) from work and go back to school and completely change job fields. Doing this will leave a huge financial strain on my mother and possible cause her real problems.

As far as I understand (from what my mom has told me) this is something he IS going to do… not something he is contemplating.

Please pray he either has a change of heart or goes about this in a smarter way…
 
Your Dad is on my prayer list… (Most men go thru this)

He needs to prayerfully consider what is the correct choice…

Will an immediate change place a burden on the family?
Will the choice be better for the family in the long run? And is the remainder of the family willing to sacrifice so Dad can make a career move?

Dad’s first place to look and prayerfully read is:
Genesis 2:15
Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

Your Dad’s garden is his wife and children… God gave him the job of keeping it…

I would also suggest your Dad seek council with another man. I know from experience men like to make decisions alone (not a good idea, but that’s the way men are, we have to learn to ask for good Godly assistance). A good Christian man would be the best councilor, like maybe a pastor, priest, etc.

I hope my tidbit of advice helped… It’s going to be tough, but with God’s help your family will prosper.

( I know you may get a lot of advice on this thread… Please prayerfully consider all… Some will help, some may hurt… Please know that God is there to help, always )

I think that St. Joseph is holding him in his powerful prayers too!
 
Heavenly Father, in accord with Your perfect will, guide perfectpeach’s father into doing Your will today and always. Comfort his family now and forever. Lead them all into Your arms of joy. Mary, pray with us. Amen. :harp:
 
Prayers promised. Intention is that your father will do what is best for his eternal salvation.

If it involves the service of the Lord, all will be provided. If not, he needs to think of someone else for a change - like family.

Merciful Father in Heaven, look with compassion upon this family, guiding them through the turbulent times ahead. Graciously arrange the events of Dad’s life to cause him to reflect on the wisdom of his decision. Awaken in his consciousness the vows he made as You joined them, two into one flesh. As well, grant that Mom also recall that for each better, there is a worse, for each richer, there is a poorer. Strengthen them, as a family, to examine the future and the benefit which might come from making this change. But, most of all Lord, stand with them through it all, supporting them in their weakness and healing them when love is strained. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
 
Father, if it is your will for this man to make
such a change in his life, then let it be done.
If not, then please enter his heart and help
him to realize what he should do.
Grant his family peace.
AMEN
 
Father, please guide this family as they traverse the unknown. Change causes so much fear in so many, yet when we have You we should have nothing to fear. Please give this family, and us all, the strength we need to get through the many changes in life as they come. And please lead us to and through the changes You want us to take and help us to be open to Your plan. And Father, please steer us away from those changes not part of Your plan. In the name of Your son Jesus I pray. Amen.
 
Praying very hard to St. Joseph for your father and for the Holy Spirit to guide him!
