I would like prayers for my adult daughter for relief from what I believe may be a demon. She appears successful in her career as a Registered Nurse but with me she displays a side of incredible, irrational viciousness which I don’t understand. She has been emotionally very volatile with here mother and me since about age 5. She is 45 now and never married. In her adult life she has been unpredictable, alternating between high affection and bullying us, her parents. Her mother died 3 and half years ago. My daughter was devastated. She was having a drinking problem at the time. Continuing her pattern of emotional volatility with me she asked me to not become involved with another for a year. I began a relationship after 4 months resulting in marriage and a move across the continent to begin a new life. This was unforgivable to her. She has shunned me and my new family. She will not talk to or acknowledge my wife She sometimes asks me for for job advice and professes to love me. I assisted her daily through a job crisis and transition. She then inexplicably became incommunicado and now loads me down with irrational, vicious insults and professes to dislike me intensely. I believe she has mental illness or possibly demonic possession. She is able to keep this side in check as she is to al accounts and excellent nurse with an impeccable record. Please pray for relief from mental illness or her demon.

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially Yukon’s daughter, who is suffering extremely vicious behavior that might qualify as demonic. We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire. We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ’s side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen

***Even though an individual can protect himself, I’m not sure about protecting someone they believe to be possessed. That sort of matter should be discussed with a priest. I pray you get some relief in your family and in your daughter’s soul. ***

You would have made it easier on her to wait a full year as she had asked you. You’ve been with her mom for more than 40 years, mom dies and 4 months later dad is talking wedding. Did one year of celibacy look like hell on earth to you?

I agree with Robert. four months is a pretty fast relationship to be involved in esp. knowing that your daughter is very emotional and unpredictable. I think asking you to wait one year is pretty reasonable as you said that losing her mother was devastating for her. It would have given her some time to adjust to the loss.

It sounds as though your daughter has a history of a mental/personality/behavior disorder, since you were either adored or bullied when she was younger. With her mother dying and you beginning anew relationship only four months after her mother died, then marrying and moving away may have contributed to feelings of abandonment.

It sounds as if your daughter may feel abandoned. I would concentrate on your communication with her, instead of focusing on her getting help for mental illness. Validate her feelings and do not defend to her. You can validate her feelings without agreeing with what she is saying. You are recognizing how she feels. Her feelings are true to her. You may want to get some professional help to assist you in healing your relationship.

I have an adult daughter with a personality disorder, and the best move that I made in healing our relationship was in getting counsel. I learned how to communicate with her. It did not change her, but I learned how to change myself in my communication with her. I detached with love. I doubt that she will ever get the help I wish for her.(of course, there are miracles I still pray for) I reached a point of radical acceptance.

Prayers for healing for your daughter, and your relationship. I wish you peace in your family.

👍 Sounds like she may have BPD. But I’m not qualified to give a formal diagnosis.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for Healing the Family Tree

Heavenly Father, I come before You as Your child, in great need of Your help. I have physical health needs, emotional needs, spiritual needs, and interpersonal needs. Many of my problems have been caused by my own failures, neglect and sinfulness, for which I humbly beg Your forgiveness, Lord. But I also ask You to forgive the sins of my ancestors whose failures have left their effects on me in the form of unwanted tendencies, behaviour patterns and defects in body, mind and spirit. Heal me, Lord, of all these disorders.

With Your help I sincerely forgive everyone, especially living or dead members of my family tree, who have directly offended me, or my loved ones in any way, or those whose sins have resulted in our present sufferings and disorders. In the name of Your divine Son Jesus, and in the power of His Holy Spirit, I ask You, Father, to deliver me and my entire family tree from the influence of the evil one. Free all living and dead members of my family tree, including those in adoptive relationships, and those in extended family relationships, from every contaminating form of bondage; By Your loving concern for us, heavenly Father, and by the shed blood of your Precious Son Jesus, I beg You to extend Your blessing to me and all my living and deceased relatives. Heal every negative effect transmitted through all past generations, and prevent such negative effects in future generations of my family tree.

I symbolically place the Cross of Jesus over the head of each person in my family tree, and between each generation; I ask You to let the cleansing blood of Jesus purify the blood lines in my family lineage. Set Your protective angels to encamp around us, and permit Archangel Raphael, the patron of healing, to administer Your divine healing power to all of us, even in areas of genetic disability. Give special power to our family members’ guardian angels to heal, protect, guide and encourage each of us in all our needs. Let Your healing power be released at this very moment and let it continue as long as Your sovereignty permits.

In our family tree, Lord, replace all bondage with a holy bonding in family love. And let there be an even deeper bonding with You, Lord, by the Holy Spirit, to Your Son Jesus. Let the family of the Holy Trinity pervade our family with its tender, warm, loving presence, so that our family may recognize and manifest that love in all our relationships. All of our unknown needs we include with this petition that we pray in Jesus precious Name. Amen.

HI wildthing, have you yourself experienced good results from this prayer/devotion, or have you witnessed difficult situations get resolved as a result? I have alot of baggage, I suspect it may have to do with my family tree (very troubled and broken as a whole), but i’ve always been suspicious, it sounds like something a Protestant preacher would advocate, I would think a majority of Catholic priests would laugh or shake their heads at the mention of “healing one’s family tree”. Thank you.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Praying that the Lord may guide your daughter and enable her to accept help. Also praying for all necessary graces for her.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

God bless all of you. My hope for her is renewed. Some messages have certainly “afflicted the comforted” making me realize her sense of abandonment may be very real. You have helped me form a message to her in my heart which I know will begin renewal of a loving relationship.
