Really? I would ask him what criterea he uses to determine which parts of the Bible count and which don’t. Then I would ask him how he determined that criterea (in other words, where scripture–the word of God–upholds his idea).

Oh, and also ask where he got the authority to decide which parts of the Bible count. While you’re at it, be sure to point out that since he gets this authority, it’s only fair other Christians get it too–which of course would result in all of us individualizing our Bibles, deleting and adding whatever we want.

So, by his line of thinking, it would be okay for some Christians to eliminate the Ten Commandments. It would be okay to get rid of all that “Love your neighbor” business.

I found it funny because I’m a Pat Buchanan style traditional conservative and he still was freaking out at me. He said the only important political issue was race and that only liberals were against racism. Therefore I was automatically “liberal” in his eyes.

He actually supported the abortion holocaust in certain cases (essentially minority babies). Talk about a nutjob!

If I can find him again online (which I probably won’t be able to) then I will ask him your questions. I did point out basic flaws of sola scriptura, but he said his sect was right and my “sect” (being the Catholic Church) represented everything his was against so he didn’t want to get specific.

Ok I just encountered the jerk again. He was even ruder and crazier this time.

He claims that the Bible is his authority and that Jesus only came to save the “lost tribes of Israel” (whom he says are white Christian-Identity members). Apparently non-whites “have no souls” to save. He also claims the Bible teaches “Christians” to hate other people directly. He never gave any verse, except for “don’t cast pearls before swine”. He says “Caanites” (his word for non-whites) are used by God as a tool to punish whites for being disobedient.

He also affirmed his support for abortion, saying Roe vs. Wade was a good decision as long as it used on “the right people”.

Oh yeah, and he says Italians (I’m part Italian) are Arabic and not white:shrug: . His last words to me were: “Have fun burning in hell Arab statue-worshipper”. I didn’t tell him my girlfriend is Korean, because I figured he would stalk me and such after that and bother me with annoying nazi messages.

These are the “fruits” of personal, infallible [tongue planted firmly in cheek] interpretation.

Of course our non-Catholic friends on these threads deny the idiocies of your ‘debater,’ however, where else does personal revelation lead to besides starting one’s own ‘belief system’ or becoming ‘delusional’ as to self-identity?

Looks like it’s time to brush the dust from your feet and move on.

You’ll never make any headway with this guy. My only advice is to pray fervently for him.
