Well I don’t see anything wrong with praying so much to a saint. I would just make sure that, you know, at least at Mass or something you pray directly to Jesus.
I would highly suggest praying to our Holy Mother! St. Louis de Montfort warned how people can become afraid of bugging Jesus and it will put a hindrance on their prayer life sometimes. Praying to Mary focuses you on Jesus; it doesn’t draw you away from him. Praying to saints or Mary is a great way to show God your humility, too; you are saying that you are not worthy to speak directly to the Lord. St. Louis de Montfort said that it is like what you might do with a king. Now if you wanted to communicate to the king, would you march right up to him and say, “Hey, what’s up?”

Well, no. You would probably speak to one of your friends who knows the king very well and ask him to speak to him for you. (Or in this case your Mother who also happens to be the King’s Mother!)
Clearly this does not mean you should be afraid of speaking to the Lord (other than a healthy “fear of the Lord,” of course). I find a good way of speaking to Him is to first ask Mary to be at your side as you approach Jesus, for her to clothe you in her vestments and graces. (As St. Louis de Montfort suggested)
I also wanted to clarify that, as St. Louis de Montfort said, Mary can only intercede for us and work by God’s power, but that this does not mean that every time we speak to Mary we need to preface it with “through your intercession, by the power of God.” God has blessed Mary with incredible power, so she can help us if we just ask her straight out for a favor. Never could she do these favors independently of God, but she understands what you are saying if you just ask her to help you. As St. Louis de Montfort said, every time we say “Mary,” she says “God.” Isn’t that wonderful?!
Just always remember that Christ is the center of our lives and you should do just fine!
By the way, I love St. Louis de Montfort!
