I am writing this to show an amazing series of events leading up to and during my husband’s hospitalization last week. He is 57, recently diagnosed diabetic, has lost a little weight, eats healthy foods, and exercises.

- I went to work feeling crummy Wednesday. I was not sure I could work through the day.
- I got to work a little early and decided to get on the internet for a few minutes. While I am usually not interested in medical sites I thought about looking up my own symptoms and ended up on a heart attack symptom site. I read the symptoms and decided that mine didn’t fit it.
- By noon I felt a migraine coming on so I told my boss I needed to go home. As I drove home I felt the need not to take my meds. I got home. My DH was at physical therapy for a recent knee surgery.
- He came home very tired. He had lunch and laid down. I went in the other room to rest while he watched car races. I still hadn’t needed my meds.
- He began complaining he had hurt his back probably at therapy. I rubbed an analgesic on his sore shoulder.
- He became nauseous. And then said his jaw was hurting. I told him those were signs of heart attack which he denied. I called our GP and his nurse said to take him to the closest heart hospital. Instead I opted for our very close ER. This was 3:40pm.
- Checked him in to the ER. Got him in Triage and the nurse left the room. Immediately after he collapsed. I grabbed him before his head hit the floor. He went rigid and began breathing like a fish out of water. I yelled several times for a nurse while also telling him to stay with me.
- I was told by the receptionist to quit yelling the nurse would be back soon and that I was “scaring the patients”. I kept yelling for them to “Please get me a nurse!!!”
- Three nurses showed up. They grabbed a gurney, crash cart and they yelled code blue. My DH was taken into a room and defibulated. A doc was called into the room. Everyone worked swiftly and efficiently on him. They were about to put a tube in so he could breathe when he opened his eyes and asked where he was.
- I was calling our priest and children to come asap while this happened. All got there in minutes from their various jobs. My son in law had been at my daughter’s work just as I called, an unusual occurence. My son picked up his wife at her office on the way. Our priest Father Dan anointed my husband and prayed for us all.
- A decision was made to send my DH to the local heart hospital via ambulance. This was swiftly done as the heart surgeon happened to be available right then.
- We sped to the heart hosptial where the surgeon was waiting for my permission to do angioplasty on my DH and repair any blockages. I agreed as I was coming in the door.
Within an hour the doc had us in a consulting room explaining in very lay terms what had happened. My DH who had never been diagnosed with severe coronary disease had it now. Two blockages og 80% and 100% in one artery, one of 80% in another artery and one of 68%-70% in another. The worst artery had been stented in two places and my DH was awake and being made comfortable in his room. It was 5:30pm. The same day. The same aftenoon.
He came home Friday and is doing well.
God is very good. - I felt crummy and went home.
- I had just had refreshed in my mind symptoms of heart attack.
- I made my husband go to the ER. And decided on the ER instead of driving further to the heart hosptial initially. Otherwise he would have been in my car when the attack occured.
- We were in the hospital when it occured and nurses and doctors responded to my yells in spite of the receptionist. (She apologized later.)
- A very good heart specialist was ready to go for him.
- God gave my husband back to me.
Praise God. Praise Jesus. Thank you St Joseph to whom I prayed for my husband.
