I know there have been a lot of threads concerning different publishers of the Douay-Rheims Bible, but I just wanted to share mine.
I originally bought the Baronius Press copy because I read about the leather cover and stitched pages etc. I don’t deny it’s a very nice Bible, but the hard cover made (for me) it heavy to carry (and I do like to have my Bible with me). Additionally because of the hard cover it just didn’t feel like a Bible but like an encyclopedia so I just couldn’t get attached to it.
So I purchased the Benedict Press black leather cover (yes there is a leather cover version, it just costs a little more). I have to say I love this Bible. It’s the exact right size, it’s easier to carry and to hold when reading (especially in the park under a tree) with it’s soft leather cover. The pages are beautifully typeset with a readable font and the colour artwork in the back is simply inspiring. It’s a gorgeous Bible.
Don’t let the idea of glued pages set you back, it’s not the 1950s. The glues used these days and the process used to put pages together is far better now than it was way back when.
I’m so happy I bought the Baronius Press Douay-Rheims Bible.
