I’m not sure if this is the right thread to post this, so the mods can move it, if need be.
Last evening, my wife and myself attended a concert by Tony Melendez. For those who might not know who Tony Melendez is,
he is a man who was born without arms. He plays the guitar with his toes, and has a wonderful voice. He played for the World Youth Day in 1987, in Denver. When Pope John Paul II watched in awe, seeing this young man play a guitar with his feet, after the song was done, the great Pope, stood up, and hopped down off the stage and made his way through the barriers, to give Tony a hug and a kiss. He told Tony, “Tony, Tony, you inspire all of us.”

Anyway, we were excited when we learned that Tony was playing at the parish, my wife and myself grew up in.
The concert was awesome! There people from all over there, Americans of many ethnicities, and people from Guatamala Mexico and Puerto Rico. It wasn’t a large crowd, perhaps less than 100. He concert begins with a video on a large screen, of the World Youth Day, when he perfomed. Later, Tony plays a tribute to Pope John Paul II, while they show pictures of the Pope, as he traveled throughout the world. Many people were in tears watching this.
At the end of the concert, which ended up being held inte church hall downstairs, Tony invited us to join in Adoration. The Pastor came down the isle with the Blessed Sacrament in the Monstrance. We were all sitting in tight quarters with metal folding chairs, so we couldn’t all knew, but those who could did, the rest of us stood as the Blessed Sacrament was placed on an altar, which replaced the spot where Tony had perfomed. Tony and his band, played some beautiful songs of adoration and praise and ended with Tantum Ergo/Down in Adoration Falling. Then the pastor led us un the Divine Praises.
It was so inspiring, seeing all these people, praying as brothers and sisters adoring our Lord Jesus Christ, in the Blessed Sacrament.
After, there was a wonderful social. We got to have Tony audograph his book that we purchased and speek with the
other band members.
It was a truely memorable experiance!
Tony is touring the country and will play that the World Youth Day in Austrailia. Also, he’s touring the country so if you visit his website above, perhaps he’ll be coming near you. If you get the chance, don’t pass it up!
