My Experiences last night during Adoration

I noticed something that to me just kind of struck me, I don’t know in what way this struck me but it just did…

We had adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 12:00 midnight last night. I went out after Mass for just a bit and came back for adoration and I ended up being there for basically the entire time (9:00-12:00, about 3 hrs, I guess) and at about 10:00 the thought popped into my head to count the people there…so I did. And it hit me…the entire time there were never more than 11 people there. I think in fact there were 11 people the entire time (about 5 or 6 of us were the same that stayed the whole time). Don’t know if this was significant but I thought it was interesting since at the time Jesus went out to pray, there were only 11 apostles left since Judas had already gone to betray him. Very interesting I thought.

Also for the last hour of adoration, there was the strongest smell of flowers in our little room that stopped as soon as the bells rang at midnight. There weren’t any real flowers anywhere in the church and our room was well ventilated even though it was small because we had the doors open and they open out into the narthex. And it wasn’t perfume, it was definitely a fresh flower scent. I thought maybe it was some scent wafting in from outside but we don’t have any blooming trees or plants right now. So that was interesting too.

It was just so peaceful last night. I enjoyed that Adoration more than any other time I have done it.

I’ve never gone to adoration. I stayed after church last night and did an hour. It was truly the best prayer experience I’ve ever had, different from all other prayer experiences. It was incredible and very peaceful and comforting and loving, etc. I can’t really describe it, but I’m definitely going to be doing more holy hours in adoration from now on.

What a beautiful experience!

Traditionally at my parish, we have a procession of the Blessed Sacrament from the church to our hall for adoration after Holy Thursday Mass. The normally seats about 300 people and last night nearly every seat was full. I was only able to stay about 15 minutes (I’m still recovering from abdominal surgery), but as I was leaving, more people were entering the hall. It warmed my heart to see so many of the faithful keeping watch with Our Lord last night.

That is pretty cool. I probably wouldn’t have noticed that. Of course you could change my furniture around while I was gone and I probably wouldn’t notice that either. I’m not always the most observant person.

Across the Church I could see a friend of mine praying. And then I noticed her start to shiver as well. Outside of the Church I asked her if she felt a strange sensation and a feeling of peace come over her. She said she did. And then she asked me if I noticed the scent of flowers.

Our Lady is always present during Adoration, people frequently report smelling flowers, particularly roses

That is pretty cool. I probably wouldn’t have noticed that. Of course you could change my furniture around while I was gone and I probably wouldn’t notice that either. I’m not always the most observant person.

I definitely felt the presence of the Lord more than I have at other times during adoration and I think he was helping me be more observant!

Wow…that’s beautiful! I am a huge proponent of adoration. It has been a wonderful discovery for me this past year. And I’m blessed to work in a town with a small chapel that has Adoration for about 18 hours each and every day. I love the fact that whenever I want to stop and spend some time with Jesus, either just 5 minutes or several hours, I can…

We are talking about possibly having perpetual adoration at our parish once our new ministry center is built (don’t know how long that will take), but that would be wonderful!!!

Right now we have our Blessed Sacrament Chapel open until after every morning Mass until 9 pm so that’s very convienent for me since I can go on my lunch hour. I was just there in fact!!

We are talking about possibly having perpetual adoration at our parish once our new ministry center is built (don’t know how long that will take), but that would be wonderful!!!

I LOVE going on my lunch hour! There are always a few people there but it’s blessedly silent and that old chapel has creaky pews and smells of incense…ahhhhh I love it!
