I can’t believe i’m even typing this. Make fun of me all you want Heres my story some have heard it

I was born into the catholic church and loved it. Once I was about 23 I went to the Mormon church after Elizabeth Smart was found. I felt it was a miracle.

I joined the church and 3 weeks later left and resigned

I was sooo happy to be back in the catholic church!

Then about a yearish I started talking to missionaies again because my friend Holly had joined and I guess I felt lonely. A few months later after being baptized I left again.

I LOVED being Catholic. I want to in september go to school to be a pastoral minister

but lately all I see are Mormon missionaries every where I go. I think it might be a sign and now i’m scared that being catholic is bad and I should be mormon

oh i don’t know. I can’t decide. I LOVE the catholic church but they always say the mormon church is the one true church. I’m soooo confused

I know it sounds stupid to want to kill myself over this but it is like demonds eatting at me.

its sooo painful

I just want to fade away

“give me the beat boys to free my soul I wanna get lost in that rock and roll and drift away…”

I don’t think God really loves me anymore. I know it sounds stupid. I have depression and I HONESTLY believe on the whole spectrum of the world I am no concern to God…

I went to mass today and I keep thinking i should be mormon why because i’m stuck between the 2 “true” churches.

To some it is easy but I am gulliable and sad and confused. One says one thing another says something else. I am so lost. Why can’t God just take me away from all my thoughts

sorry I waste the board with negitivity

Don’t lose hope! I’ve been involved with the Mormon church since Janaury and finally just got out of it. It’s been a really rough road for me. I know all about the confusion, too. But something in my heart just kept telling me and I knew this to be true that the Catholic church has 2000 years of solid history to back it up. The mormon church is barely 100 years old.
Write to me if need to.

Hi
There is nothing for disappointment. At least you are not a blind faith, you want to be research oriented, that is a better option.
You have just to see if the Mormons ( or for that matter, any denomination/faith/religion) present straight Claims on issues from the Revealed Book or it is just their wishful thinking. Then Reason also straight passages from the Revealed Book. By comparison you would discern truth yourself. Nothing to worry about, you are struggling for truth, and GodAllahYHWH likes that.
Thanks

I think you are swinging between Catholicism and Mormonism a bit like a pendulum. These days people are offered a lot of choice in terms of religions and one can fairly easily leave one for another. It can also take a lot of exploring and patience and growth before one can settle into one particular faith. A lot of people will experience multiple conversions into different faiths, and in our pluralistic world, some people will have to face a decision to choose one faith over another.

The problem with trying to practice or be a member of two faiths or more is it produces a kind of spiritual schitzophrenia; the world’s faiths are only in the infancy of true inter-religious dialogue, let alone coming to a common understanding of the nature of the Real. I think it is best to either do one’s best to be a very good member of only one faith, or else to simply try and live without a faith at all. We see for example in New Age syncretism a lot of the beauty and depth of the world’s religions are lost when people simply pick and choose ‘bits and pieces’ of Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism, and mystical Judaism, Islam or Christianity, when in each faith a path is not just about fragments mixed like peas in soup but rather an integral whole embracing multiplicity. The Catholic Church or for that matter Islam or Judaism have a range of practices amoung people of different cultures, but also with certain rules and canons of authority which prevent a religion changing from wine to water.

One should always make a choice, rather than sitting around and not deciding to do anything. We only have one life, and it is better lived than just spent waiting and waiting for oneself to make a decision.

Still praying for you Patty! 👋

Keep the faith. Remember your love for the Church, the Church you were born into. The One, True, Catholic and Apostolic Church, founded by Our Lord himself who said “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

We all go through times of confusion or depression. There will always be hills and valleys in life. It is more than O.K. to share negative feelings with others - there is no need to apologise. You can get through this - just keep talking and praying. You are not alone! 🙂 It is a trick of the devil to try and make you feel this way. You are so precious to God and though there are struggles in life, with His help and with the help of Our Lady and all the angels and saints, you can get through this tough time and find peace, hope and faith again. No other faith can offer this kind of help but the One True Faith, The Catholic Faith.

Stay close to the sacraments - can you get to a couple of week day Masses? Perhaps your church offers Adoration? Try to go to confession frequently - maybe every two to four weeks if you can. The sacraments are the way in which God pours out His grace on us - and His grace is what we need to get through the hard times.

And pray! Even if it is just “Help me Lord I don’t know what else to do!” Ask Him to restore your faith and the love you once had for His Church.

Always here, :hug3:

you know ruby whats funny is the reason I keep leaving the so called “true” church weeks or months later (the mormon church) is because its so BORING. I know theres no excuse but its just people talking and the sacrememnt is just wonder bread and water.

My eyes are being opened as I talk on this board and I thank you all for your comments

I understand your confusion. The LDS church is a “feel good” church. I grew up with a best friend who was LDS and I saw how their family life was - absolutely amazing. They are all genuinely good people (well, most of them) so that makes it harder to step away from, as well. They work for good and they make the family the center of their lives. But their theology is skewed and their beliefs go against what is known to be true. Follow your heart, which is where your love for the Catholic Church lies. Remember, Catholics have the Real Presence and a 2000 year history. There is a reason the Church survives despite the fact that millions of other denominations spring up around Her and try to draw people from Her - the Catholic Church is the TRUTH about Jesus Christ.

I will pray for an ease to your confusion. But I understand how you feel.

Do you get EWTN where you live? A lot of good catechetical material on that channell!

Have you read The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn? That book should jump start your experience of the Mass. Honest! Get it out of the library.

You are finding one of the flaws I did in some churches. Did you ever consider that there are multiple truths and that both are good churches to be a part of? Why not be both? You must choose your own path. Don’t let anyone do that for you.

God’s love is always present, even when you think he doesn’t love you. That is your depression speaking. I’ll pray for you and send healing energy.

To day that there is good in other churches is a different thing frm saying “there are multiple truths” – which is ludicrous. Jesus Christ is the Truth.

Why not be both? You must choose your own path. Don’t let anyone do that for you.
Well you cannot be “both.” Catholicism and Mormonism are utterly and absolutely exclusive of one another. Mormons are not even Christians by any conciliar definition. They hold a heterodox doctrine of God. As for “choosing your own path” – to try to be two things at once is to avoid making any choice at all.

It is kind of you to pray for Patty. I am sure many prayers have already been placed at the heavenly Throne for her peace of heart.

They use Wonder bread? Well at least they are getting a little fiber. 😛

Seriously though, The Real Presence of Our Lord in the Sacrament of Holy Communion is one of the main reasons I converted from Protestantism to The Catholic Church. Where else would I want to be but in the Church where my Lord and Saviour is truly present in body, blood, soul and divinity?

I can really relate to what you are saying about the Morman church being “just people talking”. After years in Protestant churches (first Assemblies of God then Baptist) I began to feel that it was all “just talking” too. I enjoyed hearing great sermons. particularly in the Baptist church, but that was all they had to offer. Great talks. Of course the churches were full of lovely people who loved the Lord and tried to live good lives. We have many dear Protestant friends who we pray for daily to experience the Real Presence and all the graces that flow from His Church. But essentially all they are offered by their church is “great talks”.

It was the Sacraments that drew me home to the Catholic Church - especially Communion and Confession. Where would I be without them? On the path to Heaven? I hate to say it but I don’t think I was, even though I loved God and was trying so hard to live a Godly life. But God is merciful and patient and does not want a single one of us to perish. And He has provided all we need to help us on that narrow path to Heaven in the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. 🙂

One of the issues with the Mormon church that is easy to understand as being false, is the claim that the angel maroni, told Joseph Smith that the christian church had become apostate and that the doctrines he would be given, would return the believers to the way the church originally was. However, none of the doctrines that are exclusive to the Mormon religion, can be found in any of the writings of the early Christian Church.

youknow how mormons say that in the bible God talks about another book and they say its talking about the book of mormon. what do you all think?

God loves you, but satan doesn’t. He is the one who is trying to convince you to leave the faith…that is the one thing the devil does well…he is good at convincing us at times that God doesn’t love us…or God doesn’t want us following His will, etc…

I will pray for you that things will work out, and that the Holy Spirit guides you.

hey anyone have yahoo messenger or MSN messenger I would love ot tlak to someone asap

Patty, I have written you privately, so you know my back story already. For the rest, suffice it to say that I also suffer (endure) long and deep bouts of depression.

If you are in ‘the pit’ you begin to look for any one that is offering a rope. It sounds like you really prefer the Catholic Church, but there is a person who has offered a hand and support when you need it the most. But they have a catch . . . Mormonism. This is what I think of as a loan shark method of evangelizing. “Sure, I’ll lend you what you need, but you will be paying HUGE interest and carrying charges.”

If someone was really a friend or really cared they would offer to help for nothing. I counsel and support many troubled students. They know I am Catholic and consider it my ministry. What they like is that I never push my belief on them. They see what I do because of what Christ did for me.

Knowing most parishes, there are people like that. Look for them or ask if there is a local ministry or hot line to help.

“Lord, hear my praryer; listen to my cry for help. In this time of trouble I call, for you will answer me.” (Ps 86:6-7)

Mike

Patty, I am a new convert… You seem to have awesome faith in a time of true spiritual adversity. Congratulations! Since There is " no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus and are called according to his purpose" , is it possible the enemy admonishes you?
Assuming you are called (with your gift of faith) and"fearfully and wonderfully made" from the womb, nothing can separate you from God’s love. Catholicism is a couple thousand years older than the Latter Days and it’s basis is a couple eons before that (“salvation is from the Jews”}
The Sacraments are the churches power house to turn on the light of Jesus. Truly mystical, they strengthen are awareness of
Christ in us (Grace). Faith is a gift and the Holy Spirit is relentless in convicting us of truth. If you were not precious to Jesus, he would not pursue you and you would not be of concern to the enemy. The darkness of indecision is so much darker for us as we are made to live in God’s brilliant light. He promises to complete his work in us and eternity is along time!
