My father is dying. He has refused the last rites, because he feels that the local priest was unkind to my mother and my nephew. Please pray for him. I am having trouble accepting that the end is near. Please pray for him.

Dear Galnextdoor,

When I lost my father it was as if I had lost a part of my heart and I did not want to see him leave me. Now, almost 3 years later I remember only the good. Your father will rest with the Lord and any pain he has now will be gone. His spirit of love will be with you forever.

PRAYER FOR THE DYING

Christ Who was crucified for your sake free you from excruciating pain. May Christ Who died for you free you from the death that never ends. May Christ the Son of the living God, set you in the ever green loveliness of His Paradise, and may He, the true Shepherd recognize you as one of His own. May you see your Redeemer face to face and standing in His presence forever, may you see with joyful eyes Truth revealed in all its fullness.
Amen

Also praying that your father will accept the last rights. It is not the bearer of the blessing that counts. It is the blessing and the source of the blessing, our Lord. It would be wonderful if, in his last days and hours, he could forgive this priest. But if not, then I pray that you find a kind and understanding priest who can be with you and him at this time of passing.

Dearest Jesus please comfort our sister as she faces the loss of her Dad.
Please forgive him for refusing the priest, but it is only because he feels that the priest did not witness Your love to his dear ones. Jesus please be Priest to him as he lives his last days, and prepare him for heaven.

Our love and prayers for you and your family. :grouphug:

Hi! I saw your post and it can be difficult when someone has been hurt. I will like to suggest the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and for you to pray it daily. Do not pray it once but pray it many times during the day. I will also pray the Chaplet for your father and I also invite others who are reading your concerns in this post. I have witness an enormous peace to the dying when someone prays the Chaplet for them. Give Our Lord Jesus these prayers and He will do the rest for your father. God Bless!

My Uncle is dying as well, and he too refused the last rites, ie. Anointing of the sick. In his case, he’s hasn’t attended mass for so long, I think it’s about simply getting stuck in a rut and thinking he doesn’t want to face up to the experience, or I suppose as well, doesn’t want to recognize this last sacrament as being necessary.

I’ll pray for your Father, I surely hope he will at least be open to having another priest do it, and you can remind him with scripture along how important it is to forgive, especially due to the fact, he doesn’t have time to mull it over to reconcile. He does this for himself at this point, and nothing more, it’s for his own good he does this, he really doesn’t want to carry this one over to the next life.

Hail Mary, full of Grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed Art thou among woman
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now, and at the hour of our death

Amen

I prayed a Chaplet of Divine Mercy for your father this morning. Continued prayers for him and for you in this sad time.

Prodigalson, I’ll say another Chaplet for your uncle.

you might want to gently ask again and offer to find another priest, he may still change is mind, until then, pray for him, we are all praying as well. Jesus may work in his heart to heal him of this hurt through the suffering he is going through now.

God bless you and your family. My prayers are with you all at this time.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Galnextdoor,

I will keep your father in my prayers today. It is so very heartbreaking to know that we are losing someone that is so dearly special to us. Please cherish the time that you still have with your father, no matter how long or short that may be. As much as it pains us to let go, we must also know that there is something much better awaiting your father. The incredible mercy, forgiveness and unconditional love of Our Lord is the ultimate gift which awaits your father.

My prayers will be for you and your family also. I know very well what you are going through. You see, as I type this my family is preparing to go to the cemetery to place flowers on my father’s grave. We lost him exactly 4 years ago today.

May God Bless your father and hold your whole family in His hands.

Praying! :signofcross:

Steve

Our Heavenly Father see and knows the heart of all his children including your Dad. We sometimes are caught up with rituals and traditions that we neglect to ‘see’ the human. God is walking with you Dad now. Clare

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

prayers for your dad. may he find a good and faithful priest to administer the rites, pray for him, and talk with him before he passes on. God’s peace, help, and strength be with you all.

My prayers are with your father and your family. May the Lord be with him during this painful time, and may He bring you the comfort you need to go forward.

I think that God heard our prayers. My father had been refusing any type testing to find out what is causing the congestive heart failure, erratic heart beat and erratic blood pressure.

He suddenly changed his mind. He saw a priest, received communion, and agreed to take medication and get to the bottom of the problem.

It’s almost unbelievable. Praise God. Thank you. I am completely amazed.
