Colleen,

Two important points:
  1. Seekerz calls to mind what should be the ending of all of our efforts: Thy will be done! We can ask God for anything up to and including miracles. But God knows best - for some (like Jesus in Gethsemane) a painful reality. As pilgrims in an alien world, we may often cry out “Why?” and then remember that Paul reminds us that God’s ways are beyond our comprehension but are, nevertheless, for our good and issue from His love for us.
  2. However well intentioned, references to cancer statistics are inappropriate and do not apply. If your father, in fact, has pancreatic cancer, then I can only trust that those involved in his treatment have fully advised him and the family of the gravity of his prognosis. If not, ask your father’s physician for full disclosure or simply Google the disease and you will be brought to any number of competent discussions - that address the disease in a general way.
Finally, albeit easy for me to say, I would urge you to turn to Abba (Daddy) with the hope and faith of that small child who, although she does not understand, KNOWS that Father will grace her with His loving care.

All powerful Father, God of mercy, look kindly on us in our suffering. Ease our burden and make our faith strong that we may always have confidence and trust in your fatherly care.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
