He is an actual cowboy who competes in rodeos. He has retired after many years of good music, IMO, but I hope he changes his mind and maybe does some telecommute concerts. 😃

Some UTubes of my favorite songs of his and this isn’t even a tenth of what I would load up if I had my druthers.

“Troubadour”

I fell in love with George Strait back in the early '80s when his career was first starting. Back then, the “blue laws” were in effect and very few businesses were open on Sunday, let alone bars and nightclubs. I was a 14-year-old girl in El Paso, TX when my dad told me this “new country singer, George Strait” was going to be giving a free concert in the back parking lot of Dallas nightclub (that’s what a lot of the country nightclubs did… host free concerts by up and coming artists on Sunday afternoons when they couldn’t open their doors in the evenings.)

I must have seen him perform for free at least a dozen times during my teen years (several times in that same back parking lot before the “blue laws” were changed) and at free concerts at local parks, all on Sunday afternoons. To this day, about all I listen to on Sunday afternoons is George Strait.

I am truly envious.

Make a bootleg tape to share?

😃

Nope, I was a star-struck 14-year-old girl, either listening to my George Strait tapes and day-dreaming about him or watching “The Dukes of Hazzard” and day-dreaming of John Schneider!

I too love King George. He probably is the only artist who has been able to travel the distance between “old country” and the modern stuff. Reba can’t seem to be relevant and is gimmicky. The fact is that we need another George. But, the future looks pretty bleak…

Hmmm…sorry I missed this earlier.

George Strait’s awesome. I don’t think I’d walk through a hurricane for him, though. Or swim the Pontchartrain.

But maybe for Adalida. With her cotton dress a-swishin…

Wait, gotta stop, Married and all…😃

Not only is he a great singer, he was such a class act. Nothing but good.
