Lt. Columbo was my favorite TV police detective of all time. “…Just one more thing…”
Way back in 1987, I was doing electrical work on the Sony Studios lot in Culver City, and they were filming an outdoor scene for William Conrad’s next series after Cannon, Jake and the Fatman. It was a hostage situation on the steps of the old courthouse. Joe Penny had his gun drawn on the bad guy, and William Conrad yelled, “Don’t do it, Jake!” It took them hours to film a scene that lasted minutes. That’s my TV crime drama claim to fameCannon
I forgot about Barnaby Jones. They just started running Barnaby Jones on MeTV. Starting at 1:00 am CST, they have Mannix, Cannon and then Barnaby Jones. Bad thing is I am supposed to be sleeping.
His show comes on in the morning before Columbo on Cozi tv.Not a police detective, but I always enjoyed good ol’ Jim Rockford, especially his opening answering machine messages.
One word. TiVo. (assuming the budget allows of course)They just started running Barnaby Jones on MeTV. Starting at 1:00 am CST, they have Mannix, Cannon and then Barnaby Jones. Bad thing is I am supposed to be sleeping
To this day I pattern my work voice mail message after his. Very brief and to the point.especially his opening answering machine message.
Columbo is by far my favorite. Not only my favorite detective but my all time favorite TV show. The 1970s episodes. Not the later reboots. I’d also say along with the original Twilight Zone (my second all time favorite TV show) Columbo had the best guest stars of any show. Twilight Zone had many before they were well known. Columbo had them after they were established. Peter Falk himself appeared on The Twilight Zone.Lt. Columbo was my favorite TV police detective of all time. “…Just one more thing…”
