Can someone tell me what to expect?? this is the first Christmas Mass I will be attending. I am sooo very excited too

You will be surrounded by people who never or only once a year attend Mass, so, don’t worry!

Remember, stand/sit/kneel when every one else does. Genuflect to the Tabernacle when you come in, genuflect during the Creed “and by the power of the holy Spirit”…

Don’t rec’ communion, just stay and kneel and pray.

im sorry i forgot to put that i attend mass on sundays…but is it any different at midnight mass?? lol sorry that i put this in the wrong place

Midnight Mass will definately be more crowded than it usually is at a regular Sunday Mass. The Mass will be a tad bit longer, but nothing too big. I suggest arriving an hour before Mass starts.

If you are going to Midnight Mass, there will probably be carols or a vespers service before Mass starts. So if you get there and hear music already, don’t panic! 🙂

One thing that’s different from Sunday Mass – There are several different sets of readings to use. So if you go to a Vigil Mass, there’s one set of readings; another for Midnight Mass; another for Christmas Masses at dawn; and another for Masses during the day… Much the same thing happens at Easter.

You may also hear a deacon or cantor sing the “Kalenda” or “Christmas Proclamation”, which talks about the place of Our Lord’s birth in the history of salvation and the history of the world. Very old custom.

one more question…

i heard that midnight mass lasts about 3 1/2 hours…is that true???

Midnight Mass doesn’t last that long! (I think you mean the Easter Vigil). I would think an hour and half to accomodate the extra people and music. It will go by fast!

whew thanks for letting me know

of course i heard this from a non catholic too…lol

i should of known better:D;)
