Congratulations and welcome! I was received into the Church 14 years ago this Easter Eve, so it’s been 14 years since my first confession this Saturday,
I just want to share a story about one of my First Communion children who was so afraid of going to confession. She was so nervous she would say something wrong, or the priest would be angry at her for the things she had done, and what if God didn’t forgive her? We reassured her that the priest would help her, that he would be glad she went to confession, and that God would forgive her if she honestly repented her sins. So, we got her to go about middle of the class (we didn’t want her to sit and get more and more nervous) and when she came down to the pews and sat down beside me, she knelt, said her prayers that she got as penance, and then turned to me (I was sitting next to her) and asked me if she could go again!
I always think of her when I go to confession - it is such a relief to confess what you have done, isn’t it?
