my first RCIA class

Maybe it’s weird posting this here and if the posts move it I’ll understand but this is the only place I post. I went to my first rcia class today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think protestants and others tend to undermine just how reasoned and well thought out catholicism is. It has the benefit of two millenia of theology and it shows. Just my two cents.

My parrish started the new RCIA classes last week. I walked by the room and smiled.

I teach the confirmation class for the teen-agers (we confrim 10th grade in my parrish). Our RCIA is team taught by two deacons.

You are correct. It would be good for everyone. Even if you do not change.

I’m glad it is going well.

I am a very satisfied convert to Catholicism, however, my RCIA class was lousy.

I just don’t want someone who is considering Catholicism to abandon their calling due to a poor RCIA class.

Catholicsm is incredible because it is true, despite on occasional weak RCIA program.

That would never be my criteria, ever. If it’s true it’s true and there are plenty of places in catholicism to look for serious depth. Honestly I just enjoyed making a move forward as much as anything else.

I know. I wasn’t necessarily posting for your benefit.

I’ve seen several posts here about great RCIA classes and that is great to see.

However, I don’t want someone considering Catholicism to abandon the journey if they happen to end up in a poor RCIA class like the one I attended.

It is a tangential point, but I thought it might be worth making.
