It’s a little thing, but I thought it may be worth sharing.

At my university’s parish, there is a group that makes rosaries and typically leaves a bunch of them out in plastic baggies to be taken by people who need one, whether it’s because they don’t have one or simply because they want to pray the rosary. They had a bunch made of white plastic crosses and white cord a few weeks ago, and I had considered it since I’m going through RCIA, but I decided against it. Since then I’ve had this idea that stayed in my mind that I should get a rosary. Today when I visited, there were more, this time, made of black plastic with black cord (they were made in memory of someone whose funeral was conducted there recently). And buried beneath them was one with mother-of-pearl colored plastic Hail Mary beads with blue Mystery beads. I loved it immediately and took it home with me. There is something so very beautiful about this rosary for some reason, and it was with this simple, pretty rosary that I prayed my first rosary alone (though I need more practice). So to the rosary makers out there, I’d like to say thank you for your work! It really is appreciated, and I hope to give my little pretty rosary a good home and use it well. :o

Cherish that beautiful rosary with gradual devotion to the Blessed Mother. It is always said that whatever you ask for in prayer will be granted. I know it is true, because I’ve seen my prayers answered in more ways than one. There is a time and a place for everything… you were meant to have that rosary for a reason. May God continue to bless you along your journey of faith. 🙂

The rosary has been a huge blessing to my life. I’ve been praying it daily and recently started making them. Your post really warmed my heart!:bible1:

What a heartwarming story. Thanks for sharing it with us. I pray for you to be blessed abundantly.

Mary.

This is such a lovely story. Thank you very much for sharing it.

Your story took me back through five decades…to when I began my own journey to Catholicism. It was a journey that began when I came to know about the apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima in 1917. I cherish the very first rosary I had, which I purchased at a Catholic gift store as soon I began what we called “instruction classes” back in those days before we had RCIA. And I still remember the first time I knelt and tentatively prayed the rosary.

God bless you in this incredible journey you are beginning. May each day bring you closer to Him. And may the rosary unite you ever more and more to Our Blessed Mother and her to you. May she watch over you, protect you always, assure you of her love and presence, and help you in all your needs. And may you look back, in decades to come, with the greatest of joy and gratitude for the grace of being Catholic and the grace of having a special closeness to the Mother of Jesus.

The Blessed Virgin Mary promised to Saint Dominic and to all who follow that “Whatever you ask in the Rosary will be granted.” She left for all Christians Fifteen Promises to those who recite the Holy Rosary.

  1. *]Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
*]I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
*]The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
*]The Rosary will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
*]The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
*]Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
*]Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
*]Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenititude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.
*]I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
*]The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
*]You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
*]All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
*]I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
*]All who recite the Rosary are my sons and daughters, and brothers and sisters of my only Son Jesus Christ.
*]Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

I tell the devil: “I have the rosary and
I’m not afraid to use it, and what’s
more, I KNOW how to use it” and
he backs off!

God bless you. May Our Lady keep you under her holy mantle, intercede for you, and may you find solace and inspiration while meditating on the life of Christ in the Mysteries of the Rosary. 🙂

How wonderful! We have several of these rosaries and they are excellent for children to pray with or to keep in a few different places to pray whenever the mood strikes. I feel like over the years they have greatly improved in quality too.

(Of course, one can always pray using one’s fingers or just in one’s head, but I find it very soothing and focusing to actually have the beads in my fingers.)

The beads you refer to as “Mystery Beads” are actually called “Our Father” beads.
