My friend got permission from Rome to do Invitro?

I thought no and not under any circumstance. I’m very upset that my friend just got pope consent that it is okay to have invitro done? I’m totally confused and very upset. What is going on with the Church? I know there are other ways such as gift but didnt know invitro was ok,

I would have to have independent verification of that.
 
No way is that allowable in the church, a woman in WI got fired from her job as a Catholic school teacher for getting one which worked. It goes against Catholic Law and they felt it was reason enough to terminate her job there. Your friend is lying.
 
Your friend is not being honest with you.

How the heck would one go about requesting such permission anyways? I think he is making it up, or he has been mislead somehow.
 
i told her something doesnt sound right…i also said under no circumstance is that okay. she said she was allowed under her circumstance. I know there are other alternatives such as gift but i highly doubt she is doing that. I thought i was wrong but i know the teachings on this! When she told me this it really hurt me because I for one second doubted the Catholic Church …great now i have to go to confession again! I just went today!

Oh you don’t need to go to confession for that! You wouldn’t be a human being if you weren’t flummoxed for a second in such a situation.

Why not ask to have a look at the document - clear it all up?

Frankly I believe that to be a load of rubbish.
Very simple test. As your friend made that claim ask to be shown the documented evidence to support it. If your friend refuses then there is your answer.
 
I think the person is making it up. Even if you could get permission directy from him, it would probably take too long anyway. I don’t think the Pope sits in his office taking phonecalls from individuals who don’t like Catholic moral teaching.
 
Pray for your friend - she is obviously VERY misguided and delusional if she thinks Rome is OK with her doing something so against our Church’s teachings.

Having said that, infertility is such a difficult cross to bear. I can understand the desperation and willingness to do almost anything to have a baby. I will remember her in my prayers today.
 
Where would one get such permission? The Confraternity for Allowing the Opposite of What the Church Teaches?
 
I cannot believe your friend recieved permission from Rome or as stated “Pope Consent” without seeing an actual document. I would ask to see it.🤷
 
While I hesitate to advocate anything that might look judgmental, I do have to state that within the parameters of the information we have, your friend’s claim seems highly suspicious. One could as easily imagine a claim that “Rome” gave permission for an abortion. . .or for permission to remarry without receiving a necessary decree of nullity . . or for a ‘homosexual marriage’. . .because of ‘circumstances’ which somehow made the absolute ‘immoral’ into a relative ‘moral’ for one individual. . .

It just don’t add up! 😃

I called him up and asked him if he really did that. He said that there was no way that he would ever do that.

I asked my sister in more detail what he said. She reported that she told him that she had used contraception in the past, and he said, “that’s understandable…”

I’m sure he was telling her that there was lots of confusion in our society. She interpreted it to mean she was allowed.

People hear what they want to hear sometimes.

Hmmm … I hope he didn’t breach the seal of the confessional in your discussion, although if you’ve reported it accurately it sounds like he didn’t.
 
just a little FYI!
I grew up in Faith in this particular church that told her this. This is the church where I learned ivf was wrong. And now she is telling me she got some kind of permission from them???
I went ahead and emailed the deacon. I let him know that I was very disappointed in the church that “raised” me. All he did was confirm what you all have told me and what I believe. So the answer is , my so called friend is either lying to me to get my blessing to use ivf or she misunderstood what was explained to her , just like the poster with the sister on contraceptives.

Permission from the pope no less!
Like others said, I’m pretty sure he’s doing other things besides going against church teachings and contradicting documents that he himself wrote.
