I don’t think the Catholic church has really woken up to the fact that most of us don’t live this way.

I’v worked with people before that said they were Catholic and yet I have never seen them at Mass, we only have one Sunday Mass in town so unless they go out of town I’m guessing they are Catholic in name only. Which is such a shame, we really need more people to actually attend Mass and become more involved in the parish.

Some of my catholic friends who I have known for 20 years. Run away from me when I talk about the Pentecostal church.

Go figure . one of them taught in a catholic school 4 years

I mean I often talk to my friends about their churches but if you know it will descend into an argument then I can understand avoiding it.

Yes it is interesting to ask catholics what they were taught and what they remember

And what they think is important.
And how that has influenced their life decisions.

Right or wrong ???

Weak prayer lives seem to be common in youths as well as not having an active sacramental life or at least that is how I see most youths.

I think sometimes people get confirmed and then don’t know what to do with it.

I don’t think people should expect the Church to come down to their level, in that the Church changes its doctrine to please people. But rather, people need to catch up with the teachings of the Church
I agree. But many of those who leave don’t want to catch up. They want the Church to compromise or “get with the times.”

Why are you talking to your Catholic friends about the Pentecostal church? Are you all engaged in conversation about the different churches and denominations? Or are you trying to convert them to your preferred denomination?

I have a friend who used to attend different churches. She’d tire of one and move on to the next. One day, she invited my mother to go to the Pentecostal church with her. My mother wasn’t Catholic at the time and felt obligated to go because this friend had helped us out many times. Mama felt out of place there and resumed going to the Catholic Church the following week and hasn’t set foot in a Protestant church since then.

I’ve been to my husbands Pentecostal church. It certainly took me out of my comfort zone but that’s not a bad thing sometimes.

Some of the changes made “after Vatican II” may have created problems … such as having the priest enter the church in a procession down the center aisle.

Previous to that, the priest went to the altar from the sacristy and NOT down the aisle. The priest and the people used to focus their attention on God … now seems to be focusing attention on the person of the priest.

“Kiss of peace” … interrupts the essentials … Offertory, Consecration, Communion.

[Move it to before the offertory.]

You really think where the priest enters the church has an effect on people leaving the church??
