My girlfriends father is “non-donominational” lol. They were baptist until their church changed religions. 😛 LoL. Anyway, im 19and my girlfriend’s dad totally caught me off guard once by saying “Ya know, I don’t think its right that Catholics believe babies who die before they get baptized go to hell”. I was like huh? I didn’t know what to say so I basically just said that its far more complicated than that what he said is a common misconception. Only about a week later I thought of firing back with"If you can find that in our catholic doctrine, id give you 100 bucks". See he went through RCIA when getting married cuz his wife used to be catholic and i think if i asked him where he heard that he would probably say “I was told that in RCIA”. What should I have said? Thanks!

1261 As regards children who have died without Baptism, the Church can only entrust them to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. Indeed, the great mercy of God who desires that all men should be saved, and Jesus’ tenderness toward children which caused him to say: "Let the children come to me, do not hinder them,"63 allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism. All the more urgent is the Church’s call not to prevent little children coming to Christ through the gift of holy Baptism.
