Hey everyone. On Saturday evening after Colton’s 1 year birthday party, my Grandma Abbott got sick and started vomiting blood. She also had been having black stools a couple of days before that. My mom called 911 and they took her to the hospital. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and was given a blood transfusion of 2 pints of blood. They also did an endoscopy on Sunday and found out that she had two inflamed veins which was likely causing the gastrointestinal bleeding. My mom says she is feeling a lot better but she has not yet been released from the hospital and we don’t know when she will be released.

My Grandma used to be very healthy but in December she became sick with pneumonia and then was hospitalized for fluid in the sack around her lungs. She had to have a drain installed which was removed in the past month or so. The leak causing the fluid in the sack around her lungs was fixed but now the fluid goes into her abdomen and she takes a diuretic for it. Anyway, she has been seriously weakened by all of this. The doctors said she is too weak to survive another surgery at this point. She is 82 years old.

So anyway, if you would please keep my Grandma Abbott in your prayers, I would greatly appreciate it. I know that she will someday die but I want to have her around for as long as possible and I want her suffering to be as minimal as possible.

Oops, I just noticed that I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum. 😊

praying for your grandmother to have a full recovery.
coincidentally, the daughter of a close friend from college had something similar happen.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee;
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers everyone. I really appreciate them. I know that my Grandma Abbott won’t be around for a whole lot longer but I am hoping she is alive for at least another year. I am not sure if that will happen though. Her health is very poor. 😦

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal Grandma Abbott. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into Grandma Abbott’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Praying for your grandma…

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Hi everyone. We thought she was going to be released today but then tests discovered that she had a low blood count so she is in the hospital for at least one more night. The doctors also think her liver is what is causing all of her problems so she has to see yet another liver specialist.

Hi Holly,

I am so very sorry to hear about your dear Gramma being so ill and in the hospital. 😦

I hope that the doctors can continue to get to the bottom of her ill health.

Prayers said, that she will improve.

God bless you and your Gramma and your family, and all those who are caring for her.

Sending love and friendship your way. XO :grouphug:

Thank you everyone so much for your prayers. I greatly appreciate them and I am sure she would too if she knew about them but I haven’t had a chance to tell her that you are praying for her.

Hey everyone. I am so sorry I haven’t updated you since last week. Anyway, she was released from the hospital last Monday or Tuesday. I can’t remember which day it was.
