My grandmother died 24 years ago tonight

My grandmother died 24 years ago tonight and I decided to look through her jewelry box and what do I find? A copy of the Lords Prayer… comfort.

Don’t know why I posted this, just felt the need to share.

Many of us keep our most prized possessions in our jewelry box…

I grinned when I read your post and remembered spending time going through my grandmother’s jewelry box and my mother’s jewelry box…both before and after they passed away.

Thanks for reminding me of those special times…I wish I still had my mom’s jewelry box…
 
Its funny really, I have looked in it many times since her death and this is the second time I found something significant that I never noticed before. I was her only grandson and really shouldn’t have received the box, instead it should have gone to a granddaughter. My mother aunt gave it to me a few years ago when they realized the song it played is Speak Softly Love. I never heard of this song while my grandmother was alive, but it has been my favorite song for about 20 years. I’m told it was hers too.

The copy of the Lords Prayers has never been noticed by me before. Admittedly I wouldn’t have cared before. I am a new Catholic (1.5 years) and never paid attention to it before. Now that it has special meaning to me and I was feeling a little sad about her being gone I open the box with my 4 year old daughter and find the prayer. I’ve been teaching the prayer to my daughter for a while and I feel like this is a smile directly from heaven.
