My grandpa died today

We had the funeral three days ago. That was hard, but also beautiful. There was probably close to 80 people at the funeral, (not counting family, and we’re a big family. There’s eighteen grandkids total) I never knew so many people knew him. He was so shy and reserved.

The hardest part was going into the church and not seeing him in his favorite pew. He was always always there.

It’s been two weeks now since I’ve seen him. I saw him the Sunday before he died. I just realized I’ve been so blessed that I’ve never gone more than three weeks in my entire life without seeing him. I live in the same neighborhood and go to the same parish, and we had weekly Sunday dinners at his house for years.

I miss him so much.

If you could pray for the repose of his soul that would be appreciated. His name was Gilbert. He was 84. He was sitting on the patio and went to go fix the hose like my grandma had asked him before she left for the store. They found him lying on the driveway.

I miss him so much already and it’s only been a few hours. I feel like there’s a hole in my heart.
