My great grandmother died a long time ago but their is still one image i have of her funeral. She had a greek catholic deacon at her funeral,i assume anyway they are the ones that wear the purple hats, just like the ones on this website.I have never seen anyone in the roman church wear that. What i want to know is am i correct? Can this actully happen that they can be apart of a funeral for a former greek catholic?Does anyone have any similar stories?Heres the link to the image:saintelias.com/ca/servers/diaconecc.php

I am not sure of former practice or of deacons participation. However, current practice requires that if a priest con-celebrates in another rite he wears the vestments proper to his rite. Thus it seems reasonable that that was the case then and for deacons.

Deacon Brother Norbert Finh, OP, was Byzantine, and whilst serving at a Roman Parish, vested as a byzantine, but assisted at the Roman mass.
