What situation are you in?

In an area within the jurisdiction of a Church sui iuris, the faithful have their own ordinary but one of two types of pastor:
  1. a pastor of the same Church sui iuris, when a parish of the same is available
  2. a pastor of a different Church sui iuris, when only different is available
In an area outside the jurisdiction of one’s own Church sui iuris, the faithful have only one type of ordinary: a syncellus/episcopal vicar constituted for their care (of another Church sui iuris) of the Latin Church by default if none other is assigned (note that a pastor is not automatically assigned, and the faithful may be formed into a personal parish by the bishop/administrator placed in their care)

Within Jurisdiction:
… eparch/exarch/bishop → pastor (of same or different Church sui iuris) of a parish (territorial or personal)

Outside Jurisdiction:
… syncellus/episcopal vicar → pastor (of same or different Church sui iuris) of a parish (territorial or personal)

CSI = Church sui iuris
parish = territorial or personal
different CSI bishop = syncellus/episcopal vicar
  1. In a parish of my ascribed CSI with a pastor and bishop of the CSI (e.g. EC in EC parish within EC jurisdiction)
  2. In a parish of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of a different CSI with own CSI bishop (e.g. EC in Latin parish within EC jurisdiction)
  3. In a parish of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of own CSI with different CSI bishop (e.g. EC in EC parish outside EC jurisdiction)
  4. In a parish of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of a different CSI and different CSI bishop (e.g. EC in Latin parish outside EC jurisdiction)
  5. In a parish not of my ascribed CSI with a pastor and bishop of the CSI
  6. In a parish not of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of a different CSI with own CSI bishop
  7. In a parish not of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of own CSI with different CSI bishop
  8. In a parish not of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of a different CSI and different CSI bishop
  9. Eastern ascribed Catholic in an ordinariate for eastern Catholics
  10. Latin ascribed Catholic in an ordinariate for eastern Catholics

When I was not in the religious life number 8 (In a parish not of my ascribed CSI with a pastor of a different CSI and different CSI bishop) fit me,

I am a Byzantine (Ruthenian) Catholic but attended a Melkite parish.

I would visit a Ruthenian parish a couple of times a year. The closest one was an hour to an hour and a half away and I could not really travel that far as I needed to be available as I was occasionally on-call for work and I was a volunteer firefighter/emt.

Now I am sort of in the same situation as I am still a Byzantine (Ruthenian) Catholic but I am in a Latin Church religious order.

I’m Orthodox Christian who attends the Western Rite and the Eastern Liturgy.
