So we’ve been married 9 years and we dated one year before that so 10 all together. My husband is a non denominational Protestant. But he attended mass with me for eight years (including the whole time we were dating!) and went to other church functions with me also. A little over two years ago we had a decent sized argument and we’ve gone to separate churches ever since. Me to my catholic and he to his Protestant. We’ve for the most part have healed from our differences. Our marriage is doing significantly better, though I’ve felt a never ending hole since he did a 180 and stopped attending church with me. Now I have to drag him out of bed to get him to even go to his church. Hes always late on purpose cause he doesn’t like certain parts of this service  I’m not even 100% sure he goes at all. 😦 He doesnt like to pray with me much and when he does its like on fast forward to the end.

I just can’t get through this. It’s making me think “why bother praying for his conversion anymore, it’s only getting worse.” Please help me through this awful time! I love my husband so much and it’s just killing me to see this continue on a downward spiral. What happens if he looses faith entirely? I can’t even handle now. I’m :crying: just typing this.

Please pray that my husband doesn’t loose his faith. And miracle of miracles even starts coming to church with me again. But most important that he keep his Christain faith, even if it’s protestant.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give your husband guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom to the Church.

Pray for him yes, but leave him be.
Pushing won’t get you anywhere, and will close his mind to all things spiritual.
Be patient.
God has a plan for him, and it must come from within himself. You cannot force the issue. Be patient. Be the best Catholic you can be. your example will do more to convert him than anything.

Yes to what Clare said, but also remember that he is Protestant – so chances are, as far as he’s concerned at least, he doesn’t HAVE to go to church.

I barely set foot in a church before I met my now-husband, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have any faith. It just meant regular church attendance wasn’t the way i showed it.

The two ideas probably aren’t as closely linked for him as they are for you.

Dear Convert in 99:

I posted a reply to you yesterday, and mysteriously, it is gone.
I will continue to pray for you and your husband. God bless you, both.
