My last Confession

I’ve been trying to go monthly. My last one was about three weeks ago. I might go tomorrow, although the single reason I have to go, I’m not sure is venial or not. I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I love going to Confession (not to an obsessive degree, but I love the feeling of absolution after going when needed) and don’t mind answering basic questions about it if it will hopefully encourage others to go. I know most people I know almost never go (they seem astounded when I tell them I’ve been more than once this decade), so I figure if I can get at least one of them to go, then I’ve done something good.

friday at the shrine of the immaculate conception in wash. d.c,the priest had his mouth full of potato chips.

A week ago. Could hardly hear anything the priest said! - panic. Didn’t know what to do.

I go weekly, but sometimes it ends up bi-weekly. My priest pretty much lives in the Confessional, so I figure I should make use of it and work on those venial sins brick by brick.

Just a friendly reminder that we are required to confess at least once a year.
A common error repeated often on this board. We are only obliged to go to confession once a year if we are in grave sin.

I personally do not advocate the minimum. I subscribe to frequent confession. However, we should give the true facts.

try to go at least twice a month. getting better at going more often tho.

Hahhhaaaa, maybe he’d just had dental work and you only thought he was eating potato chips…Oh man that’s funny!

:rotfl:

“Late lunch, Father? I can spice it up a little if you’re bored…”

Last Saturday. I go every two weeks or once a week depending.

I would go every week but whenever Father sees me his face falls because I always go on forever during confession. :’(
Don’t do face-to-face confession then. It’s ridiculous to use human respect as a reason to stay away from Confession. I’m sure despite our “anonymous” confessional, my priest knows it me as in the same person coming in week after week confessing relatively the same sins every week, granted their frequency of occurrence is diminishing. Last week he actually gave me some good specific counsel based on my state in life to help me out more, as well as indirectly advised me on what I can do so that what I do everyday can be merited as a good work for me.

The Sacrament of Penance grants us specific graces to overcome the sins we confess (this is why the laundry list is a good thing as opposed to a conversation), thus the more frequently we confess our sins, the more graces we receive to overcome them. If you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backwards.

Thank you so much for saying that. 🙂 I will keep that in remind next time I go to confession.

I try to go at least once a month but sometimes that stretches to once every other month. I’m a new convert so initially I was overwhelmed by sin… but I’ve really calmed down now. I am still VERY aware of the fact that I am hopelessly inclined to sin but I don’t worry about it as much anymore.

I enjoy confession (in as much as it feels like taking a spiritual bath)… except when the Priest says: You are a beloved daughter of God and He loves you…

Ugh. Every time he says that I burst into tears and sob forever after… 😊

I thought you were going to say, “because I’m not a girl.” 😃

I’m a woman with a deep voice. A visiting priest mistook me for a man once in the confessional and started giving me counsel specific to a man. It was…awkward…:o

When was your last Confession?
Two weeks ago, and I’m going again this week. I try to go every week, and if I could I would go every day. Not because I commit Mortal sins often. In fact, I almost never do anymore. But it helps me to stay in line and to become as holy as possible. I hope that when/if I’m a Priest doing daily confessions will make confession far more popular.
