Here is my recent letter to the editor of my local newspaper.
What do you think?

Re: Arizona “pro-lifers” a misnomer - Letters to the Editor, Monday March 16.
Code:
Arizona Legislature has voted to allow pharmacists to deny filling prescriptions for emergency contraceptives if they have a moral objection to doing so. No one should be forced to go against their conscience under penalty of losing their job. Or penalty of law.
I am one of those "pro-life" folks. I don't get "starry eyed" over fertilized eggs but have regard for the human beings those fertilized eggs will grow into. They are living beings.
I also have regard for the living, already breathing children in Arizona and elsewhere who need healthcare and education. But by allowing emergency contraception, which prevents a fertilized egg from implanting in its mother's uterus, you are taking away that child's right to grow to adulthood. These embryos are not blobs of tissue. They are human beings if given the chance.
Have you ever seen an ultra-sound? If so, how can you deny that there is a CHILD in the womb?
Contraception and abortion may be the law of the land, but they are not God's law. And His law trumps all others.

It sounds good. But I have a question. Is this a response to an article which ran in an Arizona paper? Or to something said by a politician there, recently? I’m just curious. It sounds like a response to something you read.

Good for you! They need to hear our voices!

It was in response to another letter. Here is that letter.

**While the U.S. Senate has voted to make contraceptives more widely available to women, the Republican Party in the Arizona Legislature has voted to allow your pharmacist to determine whether he thinks it’s morally acceptable to fill your prescription for emergency contraceptives.

I just love the way supposedly “pro-life” folks get all starry eyed over fertilized eggs but have no regard whatsoever for the living, breathing children in Arizona who need health care and education.**

I just get tired of reading this kind of trash. I’ve written other letters to the editor. Not that it seems to do any good. But then, maybe I’ve changed the mind of someone out there. You never know until you try.🙂

It’s awesome that you are doing this! I don’t usually read the papers but get the headlines on my Google page to see what’s going on. Then of course I occasionally watch the secular news and go to Catholic sites for other news.

Good for you! If you can though, can you please tell us with the paper this was in? There are so many local papers here and of course there’s the Caholic Sun which I get too.

It was in today"s AZ Republic. I keep threatening to cancel my subscription but I love to rant at the editorial page. It gets my Irish up.

Great letter! Keep it up!
Expect to get some nasty replies, though…😦
If your newspaper has a “blog” page you can post all kinds of pro-life info. there.Again, prepare to hear from some rabid anti-life folks. It gets pretty ugly out there. But you probably already know this.

I’ll have to look it up. I’d send it in if I were you! 😃

BTW, if you’re interested, I created a group here at CA for Phoenix Catholics. I’d love it if you were one of the first to join and when we have enough members (or even before then, lol) , we can discuss things like this too. See sig below.

God Bless,
Snert

I already sent it in. And heard back from the paper. It is being considered for publication.

I’ll certainly look at your site. Thanks!

That is awesome. But… be prepared for lashing back from others. But I suppose you already are… the nature of the beast I guess.

At least you know that you are fighting the good fight!👍
