Please pray for my marriage. My husband told me a few years ago he wasn’t happy and that he was feeling incomplete and like something was missing. We’ve tried counseling, we’ve talked, but things have gotten worse. He told me a couple months ago he wants a divorce, but we’ve had some life-changing events and he said he can’t deal with it right now and wants to “see what happens.” I feel so sick and I can’t even look at him sometimes. I love him and want him to be happy, but I just feel that I can’t make him happy. He told me that he feels we’ve never had a good marriage–that we’ve never been good together. I don’t feel that’s true. Please understand that we never fight, that he’s a good man and a great dad. He tells me he feels broken and incomplete. I don’t know that it’s my job (or the job of any spouse) to make someone else feel complete. I feel so alone and hopeless. I pray daily and feel so many blessings in my life in other ways, but I feel that God has abandoned my marriage. Nothing helps. My husband just seems more and more unhappy. He won’t even wear his ring anymore. Please pray that his eyes are opened to the wonderful things we have–our kids, our life, and even, yes, our marriage. It was good and we can make it better, but he won’t try and just seems so lost. I want him to see how much I love him (and, yes, I have told him in many ways) and how much I want our marriage to work. Pray that he finds happiness with me.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art though among women and
blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

These life changing events, have they been dealt with? You haven’t told us what they are, which is your prerogative, but from what little information you have given us, they seem to have had a profound effect upon your husband. He sounds distant, disconnected almost. he says he wants a divorce, but then says he can’t deal with it. Seems pretty mixed up. I can only suggest you seek all the help you can get. Leave no stone unturned. I hope the Good Lord comes to your aid, but I’m sure he would want you to maybe get your husband some help.
God Bless.

Like most Americans, he’s probably bought into the lie about what true happiness is. In our culture, happiness is mere contentment for the moment. From God’s perspective, true happiness is far deeper than that. It is blessedness.

Maybe you can get him to listen to Dr. Peter Kreeft’s talk on Happiness:

If he really wants to be happy, then here’s the simple formula that works every time:

Always, always come as a servant. Put God first, family second, everyone else third, and self last. Anything else leads to unhappiness. 🙂

I almost divorced my wife once and am glad I didn’t.
God opened my eyes in time.
I will pray for you.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

Your husband seems so concentrated on himself right now, that he can’t see all the good things right in front of his eyes.
He may just be unhappy with himself and is taking it out on your marriage because he doesn’t know what else to do.

I will pray for the Archangel St. Raphael:angel1: to put his healing touch on your husband’s body, mind and soul. St. Raphael :angel1:is sent by God
to be our healer in every way a person can be healed.

You stay strong, and take care of your husband the best you can. He is stuggling right now, and I’m sure satan is in his head doing a number on him too.
Keep praying for your husband, he is in a hard battle right now. Just remember, marriage is what keeps two people together until they fall in love again.
You be just as loving and caring as you can, and if you can’t do it for your husband’s sake, then do it for the sake of the Jesus in him.

I will keep your family in my prayers, and keep your marriage in my Rosaries.:gopray2::highprayer::gopray2:
I am also sending you a big loving hug.:console:

I am praying for you and your husband. It seems that he may be unhappy with himself. All too often people depend on their significant other to completely satisfy them and this can’t be done. He needs to turn to God and let God open his eyes and his heart.

Also, this is a side note, and not any of my business…but you said you two don’t ever fight. This could also be a problem. A couple who never fights is just as bad as a couple who fights all the time. It’s perfectly healthy and normal to have disagreements and arguments…as long as they are dealt with in a responsible, adult-like manner. If you’re never fighting, perhaps one or both of you are not being true to yourselves or each other.

God bless you and your family.
You will be in my prayers.
