My Medical Marijuana Use

I willing wear the charge of being uncharitable to marijuana. I have no compassion for marijuana or anybody who promotes it other than as a recreational drug. (I certainly don’t agree with that, but at least it is the honest arm of the agenda) There are some things where one has to cut to the chase. When people argue for embryonic stem cell research and use the medical problems of suffering people to legitimise it, clear speech is called for. Or those arguing for contraception or abortion or gay marriage. All involve suffering of some sort looking for solutions. When a ‘solution’ results in the death of the spirit, it is no solution at all.

At least you’re honest. But that you are accusing AIDS victims, cancer patients, epileptics, people facing blindness, etc of being dishonest agenda pushers. That’s an uncharitable attitude that you should really take some time to consider. Your marginalization of suffering and false accusations are deplorable.

The funny thing about the idea that sick people are being dishonest about their positive experiences with medicinal marijuana to legalize recreational use is that many patients never smoked recreationally, and were reluctant to do so medically.

My husband was one of them. I have smoked recreationally off and on for years, but my husband never touched it and never really wanted to. When chemo started hitting him really hard, I got desperate, bought a bag, and pleaded with him to just give it a shot. He finally did and it completely turned his treatment experience around. Guess what, after he recovered from his last treatment, he stopped smoking. I still imbibe occasionally, but it really isn’t his bag, no pun intended.

I’m also going to say that if medical marijuana killed your soul, the catechism wouldn’t allow for it.

I am actually kind of shocked that someone here would attack the advice of my physician, even if the plant is illegal. My seizures have virtually stopped due to marijuana. Why in the world would I go back to heavy psychotropic drugs???

Medicinal purposes are allowed for.

Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices. They constitute direct co-operation in evil, since they encourage people to practices gravely contrary to the moral law.

2211 The political community has a duty to honor the family, to assist it, and to ensure especially…[list removed for brevity]…:

• in keeping with the country’s institutions, the right to medical care, assistance for the aged, and family benefits;
• the protection of security and health, especially with respect to dangers like drugs, pornography, alcoholism, etc…

Medicines are great as a help. It would be good if you could eventually wean yourself of the medicines and rely more and more on your relationship with God to get you through. This can take time.

Is alcohol considered a drug? If so, then why is it ok to drink recreationally but not ok to use weed recreationally?
