In spite of all the advice to close the door politely, I would still say that orthodox Christians in general have to do something to plant a seed in the heart of a Jehovah’s Witness when one crosses their path. Souls are on the line here, and if those who know their faith say nothing, how will the Jehovah’s Witness at the door ever be brought to belief in the trinity, divinity of Christ, and physical resurrection…?
Well you can all but try, and like the parable of the sower, some lands on good soil.

For some reason, they don’t stop at our house anymore. The mormons don’t either. 🤷

The last time either one of the groups stopped by, I explained that I was the Lay Director of RCIA for our parish, and started to explain what that meant.

For some reason, they get this glazed look on their face, and start down the walk toward their car or bicycle.

Of course, being the gentleman that I am, I always walk them to their mode of transportation as I’m explaining all of this.

They never hang around long, and haven’t seen any of either group in a few years. Even though I see them at my neighbors on occasion.

I just don’t get it…😃

Just don’t open the door. 🤷
This is what I do.
The ones around here are so:mad: rude & pushy that I no longer even attempt to communicate with them.
I talk to Mormons, because they are polite, respectful, & generally just nice young people. I have no interest in their religion, but I can respect them for their sincerity.🤷
The JWs drive me up. the. wall.

My route to my gym takes me past a Kingdom Hall and I’ve certainly suffered my fair share of pushy people telling me I’m in a ‘false religion’ for being a Muslimah in a hijaab.

I must agree with you on Mormons…the ones I’ve met are nice enough people.

Some years ago I became quite friendly with a JW who had knocked at our door once or twice . Because we got to know each other on a one-to-one basis it was a more normal friendship and I didn’t feel under a two to one pressure as you do when two arrive at your door.
I was able to draw her attention to some passages in the Bible which challenge some JW teachings. One day I asked her how she would react if she discovered that the Watchtower had ( at a time in the past ) held teachings that they now knew to be incorrect . Her answer was that it wouldn’t change her allegiance to them because they (Watchtower) are the only Body on earth mandated to bring the message to the world.

Unfortunately, the attitute and beliefs of this JW is actually quite common. It can be hard to reach a JW, but showing the errors, lies, and falsehoods of the Watchtower is still the best way to reach them (like the errors in scholarship in regards to the “Trinity” booklet). Some JWs act defensively when you show them the vast amount of errors of the Watchtower and some won’t even read or look at anything “negative” about the Watchtower organization.

You see, in the Watchtower organization it’s a grave sin to read anything bad about the organization or to read anything by a disfellowshipped former member. With the internet though, breakthroughs are being made. Curious JWs can look at and read apostate material privately and can engage in private forums such as these or others around the net. You can only keep your head in the sand so long and this is why the Watchtower has been publishing material that increasingly calls for isolating yourself from the world.

In the most current Watchtower magazine, it says that even the smallest amound of contact with a former member (who they call “apostate”) can jepardize your salvation and relationship to Jehovah. Furthermore, in the same article, they give an example of a family who ignored their “apostate” son for nearly 10 years!!

It makes sense though, doesn’t it? Stop the cracks showing by banning anything which might show up all the errors and contradictions, and the problem goes away. It’s like banning binoculars on a ship headed towards an iceberg.

I’ve actually met a girl who left the JWs at the age of 16 along with her mother, and at the age of 25 when I met her, hadn’t seen her grandmother or father in all that time. They’d simply shunned both her and her mother.

So, Mormon “missionaries” still use bicycles?

Meanwhile, your dobermann is loping along beside you, and straining at the leash.

Bl**dy sadist! 😃

Do they really think that Jehovah God would tell them something, and then later on have to correct it? All of the false Doomsday predictions, for a start!

True charity! The prodigal sons father had it all wrong! Around here, theres an Exclusive Brethen group which kicks out “bad members”, and does the same thing.

The WBTS leaders who know the truth are going to have something to answer for…aren`t they?

I smile and inform them I am Catholic as my eyes inadvertently go towards the rather LARGE statute of Our Blessed Mother in my front yard next to the porch/front door. 😉
