My mother’s sister was found to have ovarian cancer that has spread throughout her body. She is only around 47 years old. My mother wants to by her some kind of religious item. My mom thinks this would be beneficial to her. I bought her a miraculous medal one mother’s day, and she has worn it ever since. I think that really helped our relationship and her spirituality, so I think she wants to do the same for her sister.

What can I suggest that she buy?

Perhaps you could find a medal or pin or something else with St. Peregrine, who is the patron saint of people with cancer. My dad has had cancer, and my sister found a St. Peregrine pin. It gave him comfort and hope… things that are very important when coping with cancer.

I will keep your dear aunt in my prayers. May God grant her healing and peace.

I would like to suggest a beautiful Rosary for you aunt… along with a book on how to say it. Perhaps, an Our Lady of Lourdes Rosary would be appropriate. They usually have a bit of Lourdes water inside. You can find some very lovely ones at The Leaflet Missal Company or at EWTN’s Religious Catalog site. Links below. Your aunt is in our prayers. God bless.

Since many miracles have been attributed to Our Lady of Lourdes, why not get her a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes as well as water from Lourdes.

There is a website that distributes free water from Lourdes.

You can make it into a religious care package such as the statue, water from Lourdes, Lourdes rosary and perhaps the movie about St. Bernadette called “Song of Bernadette”? I know if I was given something like that it would definitely lift my spirits up!

Your aunt is in my prayers. :gopray2:

Peace.

I second the suggestion about St. Peregrine. Saints are patrons for a reason, they know what they’re dealing with. St. Peregrine pins, medals, statues, and patron saint rosaries can usually be found in most Catholic giftshops because of the prevelance of cancer.

Why not get her a statue of St. Peregrine, and a candle? Nothing helps foster prayer like something to focus it, as well as something to help set the mood.
