I just moved into this part of town a short while ago, up the street is a a church, St. John the Evangelist. I visited it during the week while it was empty a few times, “don’t do the morning thing at all, lol”, and opted to break down and get up early for this Sundays Mass, not that I needed to since I went to mass at the old parish on Sat., I had a very good feeling about the place regardless, and even noticed a couple of casual glances from a couple of people I bumped into there, the impact was felt, these were warm people.
After and during mass, I felt very welcomed, even chatted with a few people there while eating breakfast. There was more warmth and interaction with this one visit then I have in all of the times in my past parish, seriously, absolutely no contest there. The Mass was nice, and right in there compared to my old parish, could use a bit more volume in the singing element, not that I’m complaining, stuff like that fluctuates depending upon the songs in any church. All I can say is that I have found home here, this is the place I am going to stay at, this is my family and this is what I’ve been looking for, for a long time. What also really endeared me to them, it was clear their focus with charity is with the homeless and hungry as well.
I have a very good feeling towards the future with this parish, I’m privileged to be in their company, I’m quite reeling over it. Thanks be to the Lord!!!
