Hi all,
Today I received through the post a beautiful small medal of Our Lady of Walsingham, from the national shrine to Our Lady in England! I am most devoted to her, as you may know from previous posts. I have other medal variations of her (along with statues and Holy pictures etc.) although I love this one because it is fairly small yet so dignified and beautiful! I took it with me to Mass this morning and got Father to bless it in the Sacristy just before and then I put it on as Mass was beginning and offered my intentions to Our Lady. I love it!

Beautiful. Wear it in health.

Beautiful!

Can I get my cross necklace blessed? I wasn’t aware we could do this.

Yes it is standard practice. All Sacramentals can be blessed- I prefer to have my Medals or Crosses blessed before putting them on (but you can of course where them without a blessing). Just go to the Priest and hold out your Cross (take it off) and ask him to Bless it- he will most likely say a short prayer and bless it, other Priests will give it a longer blessing with Holy Water and others will look up the official prayer for blessing- which ever it doesn’t matter, just as long as it is blessed and sanctified is what counts!
