And the supporting evidence for this “belief” would be?
Scholars in the Jesus Seminar,
ROFL!!! And you believed them?!? I’ll have to teach you how to be a better skeptic and not so trusting and naive to believe a bunch of nuts. Try reading critqiues of their “work”: Jesus Under Fire: Modern Scholarship Reinvents the Historical Jesus by Wilkins and Moreland.
whose conclusion was that 80 percent of the whole of the NT is made out of interpolations. Only 20 percent is actually historiacal.
Horse-hockey. See Bruce Metzger’s The Text of the New Testament.
- I didn’t say that it had to be written–this is a non-argument.
And how can I prove something that it’s not written? You don’t have to prove that it is true; just show us where it is written down now.
- I didn’t say that the tradition had to be proved. I asked for proof that the tradition even exists.
Are you Jewish? I didn’t think so. That’s a tradition among us.Ah, a myth!
- On what basis do you have “precedence to claim this tradition”?
On the precedence that the guy who wrote the gospel of Matthew accuses the Jewish Priests of having bribed the soldiers to say that Jesus’ disciples had come by night and stolen the body, when Jesus didn’t spend even a single night in the tomb. That’s one reason. The other is that Jews are intelligent enough not to take the responsibility for the soldiers. Third, that the soldiers knew that if they had slept on the job, they would be killed. Then, that evidences abound that there was never a guard at the tomb. How could the women come after the Sabbath to anoint Jesus’ body if the soldiers were there to prevent the approach of anyone? Makes no sense. Therefore, this is another
interpolation in the NT.This criticism of the story isn’t “precedence.” Look up the word in a dictionary.
- Jesus was laid in the tomb on Friday before sunset and arose Sunday morning. That makes two nights.
- The Jews had involved the Romans in the undertaking. No problem there.
- If they had actually slept while on the job they would have been killed. But, they needed a “reason” as to why the tomb was empty.
- There’s no evidence that there were no guards around.
- Yo’ve assumed that the soldiers job was to prevent anyone (and everyone) from approaching. They had nothing to fear from a few women coming to anoint the body.
- You haven’t provided any evidence of interpolation.
- Where’s the proof that Matthew 28:11-15 is a lie?
See above. And my question remains. You made claims without any proof.
If you don’t lie, you can’t get caught telling a lie.
Thanks for having confirmed my views, because I have caught the writer of Matthew in a lie.You did catch Matthew lying. You’ve been caught making claims without any proof.
