Fragile

Guest
I lost my father on Sunday morning the 4th of this month, two days later my mother joined him. Please pray for the repose of their souls, and for me, having lived w/them much of my life, and caring for them the past several years, my world has been turned upside down…😦

Rest in Peace

Eternal rest grant unto Fragile’s parents, O Lord.
And let the perpetual light shine upon them.

And may the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer to the Blessed Mother in a Time of Bereavement

O sweet mother Mary,
you knew the sadness
of mourning those
your heart loved most,
Jesus, your Son,
and Joseph, your devoted spouse.
Please pray for all affected
in this time of loss.

Amen.

:signofcross:

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THOSE
WHO MOURN

Father of all mercies and God of consolation,
You love us eternally
and transform the shadows of death into the dawn of life.
Look upon our grief;
be our refuge and comfort
so that our sadness and sorrow may turn
into the light and peace of Your Presence.
In dying, Your Son destroyed death;
in rising, He restored life.
Grant that at the end of our earthly pilgrimage
we may be found in His company
with our brothers and sisters.
There, You shall wipe away every tear.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

O MERCIFUL God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life; in whom whosoever believeth shall live, though he die; and whosoever liveth, and believeth in him, shall not die eternally; who also hath taught us by his holy Apostle Saint Paul not to be sorry, as men without hope, for them that sleep in him: We meekly beseech thee, O Father, to raise us from the death of sin unto the life of righteousness; that, when we shall depart this life, we may rest in him, as our hope is these our brother and sister doth; and that, at the general Resurrection in the last day, we may be found acceptable in thy sight, and receive that blessing, which thy well-beloved Son shall then pronounce to all that love and fear thee, saying, Come, ye blessed children of my Father, receive the kingdom prepared for you from the beginning of the world: Grant this, we beseech thee, O merciful Father, through Jesus Christ, our Mediator and Redeemer. Amen.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Praying for the repose of your parent’s souls & for your family.

Act of Hope and Confidence in God
Saint Claude de la Colombiere
:signofcross:
My God,
I believe most firmly that You watch over all who hope in You,
and that we can want for nothing when we rely upon You in all things.
Therefore I am resolved for the future…to cast all my cares upon You.
People may deprive me of worldly goods and status.
Sickness may take from me my strength and the means of serving You.
I may even jeopardize our relationship by sin, but my trust shall never leave me.
I will preserve it to the last moment of my life, and the powers of hell shall seek
…… in vain to grab it from me.
Let others seek happiness in their wealth and in their talents.
Let them trust in the purity of their lives,
the severity of their mortifications,
in the number of their good works,
the enthusiasm of their prayers,
as for me, my Rock and my Refuge, my confidence in you fills me with hope.
For You, my Divine Protector, alone have settled me in hope.
“This confidence can never be vain. No one, who has hoped in God, has
…… ever been confounded.”
I am assured, therefore, of my eternal happiness,
…… for I firmly hope in it and all my hope is in You.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”
I know too well that I am weak and changeable. I know the power of
…… temptation against the strongest virtue.
I have seen stars fall and foundations of my world crack;
…… these things do not alarm me.
While I hope in You, I am sheltered from all misfortune,
…… and I am sure that my trust shall endure,
…… for I rely upon You to sustain this unfailing hope.
Finally, I know that my confidence cannot exceed Your generosity, and that I
…… shall never receive less than I have hoped for from You.
Therefore I hope that You will sustain me against my evil inclinations,
…… that You will protect me against the deceitful attacks of the evil one,
…… and that You will cause my weakness to triumph over every hostile force.
I hope that You will never cease to love me and that I shall love You unceasingly.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”

St Claude de la Colombiere, pray for us!

Prayer for Medical Doctors
O merciful Father,
Who have wonderfully fashioned man in Your own image,
and have made his body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit,
sanctify, we pray You, our doctors and nurses and all those whom you have called to
…study and practice the arts of healing the sick and the prevention of disease and pain.
Strengthen them in body and soul,
and bless their work,
that they may give comfort to those for whose salvation Your Son became Man,
lived on this earth, healed the sick,
and suffered and died on the Cross.
Amen.

Apology and Thanksgiving Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Creator of all and source of all goodness and love,
please look kindly upon us,
as we ask for forgiveness for not giving You thanks.
Please receive our heartfelt apology for the lack of gratitude.
Remind us at all times that You are always worthy of our thanks.

Thank You, Heavenly Father,
for all the graces and blessings
You have bestowed upon us:
our faith and religious heritage;
the Priests who bring us the Sacraments;
our life, food and shelter;
our health, the love we have for one another;
our Police Officers and Firefighters who keep us safe;
our Soldiers and Veterans who fight and fought for our Country;
our family and friends.
Thank You for the people You so generously send us;
…everything You grant us
…and of which we are not even aware.
Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us the grace of having
…less “give me” and more gratitude throughout the coming
…years so that we may be aware that anything from You is good
…for You turn the “bad” into blessings for us.
Please Lord, grant us the grace of not forgetting that we can thank You
…over and over again for the same gift – and if we
…forget, may our Guardian Angel remind us.
Thank You, Lord.
I Love You, Lord.
Amen… …by Luz María

It was You, O God,
Who commanded us to honor our father and mother.
In Your kindness have mercy on the souls of our parents,
and forgive them their sins.
Grant that we may see them again
in the brightness of Your everlasting glory.
We ask this through Your Son,
our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Prayers continue for the repose of the souls of your Dad and Mom :console:. You and your Family have my prayers, Fragile. Your Dad and Mom most have loved each other quite a lot. Our Heavenly Father will bless you for having taken care of your beloved Parents – His loved children.

This is a prayer that brings me much consolation when a loved one goes Home to Our Lord. The St. Teresa self-admonition is also a great one all for us at this side of Heaven.

Repeat the phrase in black. Although some have the response in blue, the response is in black when it changes. The underlining is to help you change that prayer for one person (his, her, etc.).

Luz Maria

I’d like to thank everyone here for their prayers, love and kindness, I’m truly blessed!

I’d also like to give you a little background to my situation and how exactly my world has turned upside down. I’ve lived most of my life here w/my parents, save for a stint in the Marines, a failed “marriage”, and a few years out on my own. In 2001 I started my own lawn care business and have been running it out of here since. Now the will is in probate, my sister and I get half, not likely that I will be able to stay here. Should be able to find a place and keep my business going, not really that big of a deal, but a difficult transition none the less. Having lived w/my parents for so long, and taking care of them in their latter years, my mom was 87, my dad 92, they were a HUGE part of my life, and are sorely missed! 😦

As for the details on how this all went down, on the evening of Friday 12/2 I was out working on my truck getting it ready for snowplowing, my mom called and said dad wasn’t feeling well, so I decided the truck could wait and went inside. He was complaining of stomach pains, and was hoping he didn’t have to go to the hospital. I asked if he wanted to go, but he said no. My mom sent me out to get supper, he did not eat, thinking he had gas or something. In the morning he still had the pains, so I called my cousin, who is in charge of the fire/rescue service here, and asked him to come and check him out. Well, there was only so much he could do, and dad still didn’t want to go to the hospital. I was working on a walker for mom and I heard a crash, ran into the bathroom and found dad collapsed on the floor. He was unresponsive, breathing fast and drooling, I freaked! I didn’t want to leave him, but I had to go get my phone, called my cousin to send for the ambulance and rushed back to dad. I sat w/him holding his hand telling him that I loved him, prayed for him as well, told him help was on the way. Once they had him in the ambulance he was responsive and talking, Charlie thought he had the flu. When I got to the hospital they had an oxygen mask on him, but he was able to talk, they thought he had pneumonia, but weren’t sure about his stomach pains and had to do a cat scan. I talked to him for a bit, then they had to take him away. I went and ate lunch, came back and he was unresponsive again, they didn’t think he was going to make it. The results came back and he had an aneurysm of the aorta, bleeding in the stomach was causing his pains. Because of his age, poor health, on blood thinners, they could not do surgery, but they could try a stent, which I consented to. He came out of the procedure and it went well, they were quite surprised as they didn’t think he would survive. His vitals were good, we went in and saw him, kissed him goodnight and I went home, totally exhausted! Told my mom things went well and I would be going back in the morning. Got a call while I was in bed a few hours later, he took a turn for the worse and they wanted me to come in. Told mom I had to go back, she said to bring dad back home, broke my heart! 😦 I got there and his face was partially swollen, from the fluids they were giving him that his body couldn’t process, they were trying to keep his blood pressure and heart rate up, and he was on a ventilator. They asked me if they wanted them to keep him on this or switch to “comfort care.” I was not prepared to make these decisions by myself! I wanted him to have every chance, so I asked them to continue and call me back if anything changed. Came back home and put my mom to bed and laid down hoping for the best. Got a call a few hours later and went back. He was badly bloated, cold and blood running down his mouth, I was crushed! I told them to stop it and take him off the life support. He died soon, and I asked the doctor there if I did this, did I kill my dad?! All I could think about is if I had taken him in Friday night he might have made it, and I could not be consoled. They tried to assure me it would not have mattered, but I didn’t accept that. Came home and mom asked if he was better, when I told here he was gone her wailing lament was more than I could bear! Family came over, and got mom talking and feeling a little better. The next day mom and I talked for a while, discussed what we were going to do moving forward, I told her how I felt responsible and she told me to please not think that way. The next evening we were getting ready to go to the wake, but my mom was too weak to go, so I left here there w/someone. Got a call while at the wake that mom needed to go to the hospital, so Charlie made the call and I excused myself and left. By the time I got to the hospital she was gone. I called an old pastor friend of mine in hysteria and asked him if God was punishing me. He assured me that was not the case, but all I could think of was this was all my fault. I didn’t eat or sleep for five days, then that Thursday evening after mass the men from my “King’s Men” group prayed over me. Later we went out and I suddenly got my appetite back and slept decent that night. Now that things have settled down a bit, I’m struggling once again w/thoughts that that this was all my fault, that I was a bad son, too selfish to think of my parents best interests, it really sucks being in this big house alone at night…

Praying that you don’t blame yourself and for the repose of the souls of your parents …

Praying for the repose of the soul of your Dad and Mom, and for you, dear Child of God. You are His child. You took good care of your Parents whom Our Heavenly Father loves so much because they are His children. Your Mom just could not live without the love of her life. I thank God for the blessing your Mom and Dad are to each other and to their family (“are” because they continue being a blessing from Heaven).

God bless you and keep you. God shine His Face upon you and give you peace.
