God chose the Jews and that choice has not and will not be revoked. So it might be because of the person’s Judaism, and even because of his fidelity to it. But it still is because of God’s choice, I just don’t know how works play into the definition of being a Jew.
This is an honest answer, but one I find insufficient. I refuse to believe in a God where it is even POSSIBLE for an innocent to go to Hell. I am surprised anyone could feel differently. My God does not send good people to Hell, even if they are not Christian. Good atheists go to heaven. Unbaptized children go to heaven. Good Muslims go to heaven. My God did not murder 37 million people, as the Bible states He did. My God did not make people out of dirt and get mad because they ate a magic pomegranate.
But to get back on topic - my God does NOT send innocent babies to Hell simply because they didn’t get some water splashed on them by someone in a robe saying some special words.
I don’t mean to demean the sacraments, but if you think Hitler - who was baptized AND confirmed - has a leg up on a miscarried or aborted baby regarding eternal bliss or eternal torment simply because he was a participant in a ceremony, you are crazy.
