Hmm,Your response to the OP,in my opinion, had a very harsh tone in reference to the conservative nature of this forum, and by cnservsative I don’t mean political, but adherance to the teachings and tenants of our Catholic faith. I sensed you were bashing this site as being too lock step with the Church.
Nope. I merely pointed out that there are many who think like the OP, there are groups that support these folks (since the OP specifically stated a desire to “do something”), and that most here on CAF will not affirm the OP’s beliefs.
With all due respect, I don’t think the following requires interpretation:

“I just wouldn’t come here for support, as you’re bound to be told that you’re aligned with the demonic.”

I don’t think this person is aligned with the demonic. Some clarification and the answers given so far have been good.

Peace,
Ed
Then my apologies to you, Ed. I have, unfortunately, read several posts in which it was claimed that those who support same-sex marriage are demonic. Heck, I’ve read that charge made against people who are faithfully practicing NFP! But I’m glad to find that I may overgeneralized.

Well, taking the long view here, or at least the somewhat longer view: In 100 years the OP will 119 years old, his views on homosexual sex and contraception may or may not have changed, but the church will be a century older and its views on moral matters will be unchanged.

Hell Guys,

I’m Tomm a Catholic in the North east of england.

Firstly please do escuse my poor spelling, I do try.

So i’ve been compelled to come on here to share my thoughts, mostly becuase I feel at a loose end. I am a Catholic (19 years old) but it has always been my belief that god gave us a brain and therefore we should question things are think are wrong within the church, rather than blindly following.

Recenatly I have been struggling with the contridictions within the church and wondering if it really does do more good than it does bad. The only reason I haven’t completely turned my back on the church is becuase I believe in god, I just think the churches take on how to do things is completely antiquated.

I can’t comprehend how the church thinks its ok to remain set in its ways with regards to contriception when they are killing thousands. By not changing with the time, they are killing people and need to take responsibility for this!

I can only imagine how rejected homosexual people feel with the Churches reluctance to acccept them. I mean come on, its 2013! I hear prayers at mass about ‘praying people who feel misguided that they find god’ etc etc. But then the church make homosexuals feel like outcasts within the church just becuase of the way they are born.

I’ve spoke to my priest which was helpful but after that all I could think is its all well and good talking about things that are wrong within the church but what am I atchally going to DO about it?

Well I don’t know what I am going to do but I thought venting my thoughts on here might help.
  1. Contradictions in the church
  2. The churches take on how to do things is completely antiquated.
  3. Set in its ways with regards to contriception … not changing with the time
  4. How rejected homosexual people feel with the Churches reluctance to acccept them
Answers:
  1. There are not contradictions in the church as regards to faith and morals. That is what makes the church one. If there were contradictions then there would be more than one, there would be several or many. But the church teaches the one set of truths throughout the entire world. That is why the church is able to put out ONE catechism and only one. Anywhere you go, you may attend the same Mass of Jesus Christ and receive his precious body just as the apostles did at the last supper. The same sacraments, the same bible are read universally in the church. This is exactly what makes it different from other churches, its oneness and unity, from the Pope down, and from the people up. I would ask that you read the catechism and you can see for yourself and make up your own mind.
  2. The churches’ take on how to do things is completely antiquated is correct, since it’s teaching and sacraments goes back to the time of Jesus and the apostles. It is the earliest christian church and continues down to today. However many of the new technogies require answers that were not existant in the time of the apostles. And the church, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, addressess these new issues by using the same principles laid down in the first century of the apostles. That is why we find that the Catholic church never gave into pressure to change its teaching on contraceptives and abortion because they are God’s law’s and never to be tampered with.
  3. The church teaches that contraception is wrong precisely because it blocks nature. Nature was created by God as something good and to be followed. It is the way God made things to work, and to go against this working of nature is to go against what God willed from the beginning, “increase and multiply”.
  4. The church is not reluctant to accept homosexual people, but indeed embraces them as also children of God. But again God has laid certain requirements down for people to continue to be his people and one of them is to observe what he has said with regard to propagation of the human race…“increase and multiply” the words he spoke to Adam and Eve. Being man and woman is the only way this following God’s will in the natural way can be done. In no other natural way can this take place, and any other way would be contrary to the way God made creation to work.
God does not promise us happiness in this life, only in the next. There are difficulties and heartaches in everyone’s life for this is a vale of tears we live in, even for the wealthy.
But if we are faithful to his will and live in this life as he asked, he promised that we would be happy in the next and would never again lose that happiness.
May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

Oh dear.

Sorry you are talking complete rubbish and its because of opinions such as yours why the church is the way it is.

Its useless aruging with you if you think that everything within the church should be followed without question.

Who says God says that marriage between two people of the same sex is wrong. Who says its a sin.

My advice to you is to stop blindly following and think for yourself. See what is wrong!
My advice to you is to stop blindly following secular society and the world. It is time that you exercise that brain of yours and actually examine Church teaching and the reasons behind it. I think that you will find it well reasoned and far more consistent than that of secular society. Many of us follow Church teaching because we have examined it long (for more years than you have lived) and hard and have come to the conclusion that: Jesus is God incarnate, he founded a Church and promised to protect it and that that Church is the Catholic Church and that it’s teaching are therefore true. You can disagree but at least take the time to do the appropriate study and form an opinion based on more than your feelings.

It would be much easier for us to all accept the way of the world and make up our own truth according to how we want to live but that is not what truth is or how one finds truth. One should study and attempt to find the truth and then try to conform ones life to that truth–unfortunately most of us Christians are weak and we fail miserably at our attempts to live the truth and it is this failure to live up to our beliefs that most sieze on in an attempt to discredit us.

If you truly study with an open heart and an open mind–I think you will find wisdom and truth in Catholic teaching–a way to live that may at times seem difficult but in which you will find a better way to live–a way that leads to true peace and happiness even in the midst of great trial and difficulty.

The peace of Christ,
Mark
