So with all this new stuff coming to light, I think it has caused us all to take a hard look at ourselves. Such as what changes we can make to help us improve as a Church, etc.
I was thinking about how a lot of the higher ups in the hierarchy live pretty lavishly, rather than living in a more humble way, like Jesus did. Not poor or starved or anything… but not surrounded by material riches, either. Just a humble, modest, simple life.
How do ya’ll feel about maybe turning the Vatican into a Catholic museum of sorts, and having the higher ups live the same way as priests do?
The funds from the “museum” tourism will go towards maintaining our Church, but with more of our higher ups living simple lives, there will be more money left over for charity work. The Vatican will still belong to the Church, but won’t be a ritsy type living ground for high clergy.
I would also be ok with allowing priests to marry and maybe even allowing women priests. I think it would greatly help get a lot of healthy individuals into the vocation, which would help with the problem of shortage as well as the problem of abuse. I feel like the vow of celibacy attracted a fair number of weirdos, and the shortage contributes to cover ups rather than purging the bad seeds.
How do yall feel about these suggestions? Are some good? Some bad? All good? All bad?
