My religion is better than your religion

Well, you know, like most other people, I did study anatomy in college - in my case, though, I took the class; I didn’t do the experiential model. So, although I was a virgin when I got married; I was not an idiot. 😉
I knew a girl who used to make fun of her friend’s boyfriend’s unit because they used to talk about how incredibly small it was…

Perhaps one size does not fit all.

If God hasn’t given us a religion to be in, then why bother to be in one? Obviously, it isn’t a requirement, if He never even gave us any to follow.
Fortunately God gave us many religions to follow.

If God is a God of truth, then either there is one, or there is none.

If there are several contradicting religions that were all given by God, then God is Loki the Trickster, and not worthy of our worship.

Honestly, why does it matter what I think?

Well - let me put it this way. All other religions are equal - they all come in second-place to Catholicism, which is given to us by God (Jesus). 🙂
Fine… but why does it bother you that I don’t subscribe to that?

 What makes you think it bothers me? You’re the one who started this thread. 🤷
I asked you:

It doesn’t matter to me what religion you follow, or what you believe.

Is the converse true for you?

You replied" “No”… which means that it does matter to you what religion others follow, or what they believe.

That’s what made me think it bothers you. My mistake… 👍

It matters to me in the sense that it’s fun to know who’s coming to Heaven with me. But I don’t interfere with anyone’s free will to choose whatever eternal destination they want. Nobody is required to go to Heaven, after all, and I wouldn’t ever force anyone in who didn’t want to go. 🙂

I don’t believe that Catholics have a monopoly over Heaven…:amen:

I haven’t read this entire thread, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts on this subject lately:)

As catholics, we know that Christ has given us the fullness of the truth. That Christ IS truth, litterally. So… would it not also stand to reason, that if Christ is saving, truth is saving. And other religions which may have pieces of the truth, are essentially believing in a piece of Christ? And Christ, being perfect truth, offers salvation completely, no matter what little bit of Him we know.

So… it is possible, that in the mercey of God… those who faithfully follow their faith and live the truth may be saved:)

I am of course talking about “truth” as in, a faith that teaches to love your neighbor, to serve one another, or other things that WE know were handed to us by Christ. Obviously , following faithfully a religion that teaches “truth” to be opposed to Christ, would not have the potential for salvation.

Does that make sense? I’m not saying we know for sure that those of other relgions will go to heaven, but then again we don’t know if any of us will go to heaven…we only HOPE that may live in faith working through love, and strive to love God. Conversely, we may not judge who is NOT going to heaven…because that is not our job…that is up to God. We may only live truth, and share the light of Christ with love in our own lives:)

You seem very balanced… thank you. 🙂

I don’t believe that there is one true religion. I respect your right to believe that your religion is the one true religion, conversely I doubt you respect my right to believe that there is none.
You didn’t respond to any of my points, though. You do agree the Church was started by Jesus, so keeping my post in mind, how is it not the one true Church?

Also, you keep saying truth is relative, but haven’t given any supporting evidence for it. All the truth I’m aware of is objective.

Hello!

Actually, I think that the best churches are those where people really love God and the presence of God is there.

I do not agree with those, who say that there is NO presence of GOD in non-Catholic churches. THERE IS. 🙂

(If you doubt in it, think – how about Jewish Christian churches – they are NOT Catholics!!! But Jews are CHOSEN people of GOD, much more than non-Jewish Catholics, actually!!! ;))

But I have been practicing and experiencing VERY strong presence of GOD in baptist, pentecost and free churches (I am happy, because the pastor of my free church was a JEWISH man – I can tell you – it was SPECIAL!!!)

👍

Now am attending to a Catholic church and taking courses there but have been participating to really many churches – Lutheran, baptist, free churches, now a Catholic church.

(The reason why I have been changing the churches has partly been connected to changing my living places and moving to another cities).

What I think that it is the question of traditions what different churches practise.

Catholic church is very traditional and their traditions have been formed within long centuries (and it is not bad at all !), free churches are traditional too (but their traditions usually do not have very long history).

I would compare Catholic and non traditional churches so:

Catholic churches are like Jewish churches in the New Testament (very many old traditions – not bad at all).

Free churches are like non-Jewish Christian churches in New Testament (when Paul said that let not demand pagans who have become Christians to fill all these old Jewish traditions).

It really doesn’t matter if we agree with each other or not.

I think that is so cool that you have experienced so many different religions and respect them all.

People could learn from you, including myself.

I think she said it best:

I love all religions, but I am in love with my own.
