My sister is in what seems to be in an open marriage uses drugs, involved with the gay culture, and is new age. She has two children under 4 years old with her husband. I am already seeing anti social behavior from her 4 year old son. He won’t let me hug him or high 5. He doesn’t talk much and. My sister hasnt cut his hair and now it is waist long. We are always kind and polite to them and invite them to kids functions. My sister doesn’t come to christmas or thanksgiving even through we invite her and her husband. My entire family sees nothing wrong with her behavior and my wife and I are made to look like frindge religous kooks. Is there anything I can do to help them. I have tried explaining the gospel with love and kindness but they just run in the other direction

In my experience most people will refuse help unless they specifically ask for it. It could easily be the case that your sister sees nothing wrong with her lifestyle. However, if you can prove that drugs are involved, that could serve as grounds to get the social service involved. Or if you can prove that the children are at risk in some other way. As for spreding the Gospel, just live your faith the the best to your ability. There is not much point in talking about it to those who are prejudiced against it.

Besides praying, there is no much you can do unless you have any evidence that the child is in physical danger or in a situation where abuse is given. Of course if there is real danger you do have a responsibility, but you have to be ready to the reaction of your family when social services and the police beciome involved.

They are free adults to practice what they want to do in raising their child – the same type of freedom Catholics and Christians want to have without interference and negative comments. Funny thing about freedom – it works both way – but hey, that’s for another thread.

No expert here but I think your good works mentioned above are on the right track. You sister has made her decision to live a pagan-like lifestyle. By setting a Christian example you offer a righteous alternative that may appeal to her children.

As a caring brother you want to tread carefully. You want to be there for her… without becoming an enabler.

As far as calling the authorities …no way! its the authorities that got us here.

Prayer. Pray the Rosary. Our Divine Mother can do miracles with her prayers.

Saint Therese of Lisieux said that she gained more heart with fasting and prayer then with words.

Having come from an abusive home, what you describe with these children sounds horrifying to me. There future is not bright for them and anyone of any knowledge in these areas will tell you the same, based off of what you say and the symptoms you describe in the little ones. They are learning from their parents how to act. You sister and husband seem to be heavily involved with the evil spirits of sins of the flesh which leads to a very dark road. Make no mistake about it!

I would talk to several knowledgeable priests or people in the church about it and what responsibilities you have in the matter, and what if anything you can do besides prayer and being the good aunt/uncle that the children will always remember.

Many a times children have been pulled out of bad homes and put with family members or better places. There is a lot we do not know, but drugs and sexual deviancy exist here, and it would sound like a sound like a grave sin of omission to not consider help from authorities, if the situation and evidence presents itself.

He should check with the church on his moral obligations and have a priest point him in the right direction.

That is my opinion.

My mother asked me what I thought of the situation and when I said what I thought my mom literally put her hands over her ears and said “I can’t here you I can’t here you” and then acted like I didnt say anything.

My sister is medicated for depression and I explained how praying the rosary and going to confession healed my depression

I really like the idea of living a Christian life and maybe her kids will be drawn to it

Thanks for the advise
