My sister is lost, says she is a Catholic Mystic?

I used to be involved in the Occult Arts…

All I can say is, prayer and the Rosary are your best “bets” for now.

Until she is brought under conviction by the Holy Spirit or finds out the harsh way just how strong demonic forces are behind such paths (I was fortunate to be brought out by prayer)… she won’t know that it is wrong unless she is just trying to rebel.

We make sure we ask him questions and he is a pretty honest kid. We already thought about talking to a lawyer (because her soon to be ex husband isn’t all that stable) and sadly there isn’t anything we can do right now because there is no proof of anything and it seems to be ok at this point. All of our radars are on for sure.

I just don’t know how someone goes from being raised the way she was to this

DID you talk to a lawyer? Even if the attorney tells you there is nothing you can do, you will know you have done everything. You should have CPS (aka DYFS or whatever) on your speed-dial.

Another book idea, this one from a *real *Catholic mystic: The Way of Perfection by St. Teresa of Avila, Catholic Mystic and Doctor of the Church.

I suggest you seek her intercession to help your sister. St. Teresa of Avila, pray for “Catholic Mystic”.

St. Teresa writes in Chapter XXXVIII on Temptation:

"*I allude to contemplatives and people who practise prayer…The foes they really dread…are those treacherous antagonists the devils, who transform themselves into angels of light. They come in disguise and do not let us find them out until they have wrought great harm to the soul. They suck our very lifeblood and destroy our virtues, while we unwittingly are surrounded by temptations. *
Let us constantly beg of God, daughters, in the Pater Noster, to deliver us, that we may not be deluded by their temptations, but that we may detect their poison and that light may not be withdrawn from us. What good cause has our kind Master to teach us to ask for this and to demand it Himself on our behalf! Consider in how many ways the evil spirits injur us. You must not suppose that it is only by persuading us that the sweetness and consolations they give us come from God…Always try to be humble, sisters; believe that you are unworthy of these gifts and do not seek them. I am convinced that in this way the evil one loses many a sould which he thought to have ruined, and that our Lord draws god out of the harm the fiend meant to work us…

St. Teresa also wrote The Interior Castle and her autobiography. Both books also discuss in parts that devils can disguise themselves, appear to people and deceive them. Your sister’s interest in mysticism likely brought her to encounter spirits that are not of God.

Since your sister still considers herself Catholic, maybe encourage her to seek spiritual direction from a good Confessor who is more advanced spiritual and familiar with mystic vissions. You should also seek out a good Confessor to obtain all possible graces to deal with your sister charitably. Have Masses said for her often. Pray the Our Father, meditating especially on the word “deliver us from evil”. Say Rosaries, wear scapulas etc. This is spiritual warfare.
