So many of my classmates in high school smoked so much weed, wasting precious moments being stoned and thinking they were cool. I say judge them, tell them they are losers and turn their life around.

Fat kids should also be judged, how else will they realize they are on a fast track to diabetes?

I’m not talking about cruelty, I talking about helping them have a better life.

I don’t want my kids hanging out with stoners. Stoners are in a state of deceit. Many pot smokers will try other drugs to get high, not like having beers while playing pool or tasting a fine wine.

Legalization will only create more stoners earlier in life with less stigma.
You did not say “feel bad for people who use marijuana - their souls are being tormented”. It seems to me that this is what you believe about marijuana in which case your response of judging them is dead wrong (I will leave your opinion of marijuana alone it is your right to have that opinion - I do strongly disagree).

Our Lord specifically told us not to judge for a reason.

Do you think fat kids don’t know they are fat (and are reminded of it consistently throughout the day)? Let me ask you this when did you attend school (it makes a big difference)?

I will leave you with this - the “angel of light” has affected your “judgmental” mind frame.

Judge not lest ye be judged. I invite you to look at the Catholic definition of this because it is the right one.You are supposed to point out evil - not judge people as being the source of the evil. That is simply not the case most of the time. You definitely never look down on them because you are no better yourself.

I do not blame you for feeling the way you do - you are trying to do good which is a victory in itself. Remember that the “angel of light” doesn’t mind if you do “good”. All it want’s is for you to stray from God’s Word.

If you drink till your drunk then yes But if you use it not to get drunk then your fine.
Well…marijuana users do not always get high they often just get a buzz - similar to those who drink alcohol. Of course people who smoke in that fashion are normally 25 and older…

Please no one post saying that is impossible. You almost certainly know people who do it you just don’t know they do it.

Its still wrong no matter how you try and spin it.

The only person “spinning” anything is you.

If it is “wrong” to smoke marijuana–even if you don’t get “high” or “stoned” from it– then it is also wrong to drink wine, even if you don’t get drunk from it. Both have the POTENTIAL to cloud your mind/judgment, if used to excess.

If it’s only the being drunk/high part that is “wrong,” then smoking the occasional marijuana “joint” is no worse than drinking the occasional beer.

Thats YOUR opinion. Its illegal and should remain that way with stiffer finds for those caught with it. I can drink a beer or enjoy a glass of red wine in public but you cant smoke a joint in public without the cops taking you away. This is just more left wing hippie ideology trying to corrupt this united nation.

Wrong. It’s not illegal in Washington and Colorado. That is not an opinion, that’s a fact.

Where do a lot of liberals live? Washington and Colorado. Fact! This is just more proof of our society disintegrating values.

Do not bother with people like this. He will not be likely to listen to reason.

It is a result of brainwashing. The war on drugs caused millions of American’s to be indoctrinated into a way of thinking that results in the above.

If you were taught your whole life to believe that alcohol is evil and should be illegal - you would believe it.

Marijuana has cured cancer multiple times right here in Michigan. On top of that thousands of people are no longer addicted to opiates as a result of medical marijuana.

Anyways I will go with the “left wing hippies” on this one and say throwing people in cages like animals for smoking a plant is wrong. Dead wrong.

You are free to believe as you wish - but please apply scripture. If marijuana is evil you should sympathize with anyone who smokes or sells it because they would be being deceived in that make-believe scenario.

???
I am not even a liberal.

Most of my views would be considered conservative. Let’s just say I think for myself…

Our society is disintegrating because we are not living by God’s word. It is that simple. Are you living by God’s word?

Do you think every last person smoking weed is not living by God’s word? please answer these questions honestly.

I may not be prefect but I try to live by the word of God and Church teaching. Yes, I do think people who smoke weed are not living by Gods word. We are supposed to treat our bodies as temples for the Lord and smoking weed is not doing that. I have never used drugs and never will.

You said it yourself - you do not perfectly live by God’s word. So if you do believe that people who smoke weed are not living perfectly by God’s word because of it - do not judge them.

Do not feel in your heart that it is okay for them to be caged. I am saying this for your benefit, not to convince you that I am right. I say this to you out of love. Whether or not you feel it is okay will not make it stop happening and I know that.
Intentions are everything remember…

You have used a drug - a deadly one. You already stated that you have drank alcohol. It is possible but unlikely that you have never drank with the intentions of intoxication. I only say it is unlikely because of statistical probability - not because of my impression of you.

I congratulate you for not trying any other drugs - I am sure you were tempted and I commend you for resisting. I would wish that you would help others to resist as well - throwing them in cages feeds the beast. Judging them is even worse though - it causes the beast to become glutenous. They do not respond to your judgment the way you think they do.

I forgot to mention - the Church does not teach that it is a sin in moderation.

Once again - I am not trying to convince you I am right. I just wish the best for your soul.

I am thankful in my life for people who had the character to judge me and make me a better person. There is a level of subjectivity that can show people the light about their lives.

I tell my kids that junkies are losers, but if they ask for help, sure I will welcome the opportunity.

I never claimed to be better than anyone, but there is right and wrong.

By telling them that they are losers you are implying that you are a winner.
You are putting yourself above them. This reduces the chances of them asking you for help.
There is right and wrong - but we barely know the difference. The only way we know it at all is through our Lord.

People who smoke marijuana are not junkies in any sense of the word. Junkie is a derogatory term that implies heroin addiction.

Consider this - it is like a Chinese finger trap. Sometimes the key to getting your kids to listen is to stop trying the brute force tactic and find the middle ground. If you are extreme in one direction and your child is extreme in the other direction you have to find a middle ground with them or they will never listen.

I am not telling you how to raise your kids or that you are wrong. I am just looking to shed light on the situation.

Where on earth in that study did you get that they came to that conclusion? Nobody is comparing marijuana use with tobacco. Both are bad for the lungs. That is widely known. That is why many marijuana smokers use vaporizers or cook with it so they don’t get that stuff into their lungs. But YOU made the leap to alcohol… how? Any drug that you can OD on in one day or nights usage is deadly. Yes, you can drink yourself to death in one night. Same with cocaine, heroine, oxycontin, etc. But no, you cannot ingest so much marijuana that you OD. It has never happened. Ever. Not a single case study. Not a single person in the ER. Not a single person. Let’s face it, it’s one of the lesser evils out there. Do I condone it? That depends. Do I think it has therapeutic value? Again… depends on the person and their illness. But let’s be real here. Saying that it’s worse for your lungs than tobacco and therefore must be worse than alcohol is a strawman argument. It lacks serious logic.
Thank GOD there are others out there with reason, logic and sense.

Smoking marijuana is not medicine and will never be legal.

THC does have legitimate medical use, but smoking will never be approved as a vehicle delivery method. No matter what state laws may say, federal law is supreme, and marijuana cannot be consumed raw in any method and still be safe. Pot is an agricultural product, and like any plant, it is impossible to measure dosage in unprocessed plants. Marinol is the only FDA approved THC drug, but legalization advocates are not talking about it, because you can’t get high from taking it.

The DEA Position on Marijuana

I work for DEA, and I am in the know on the classified side. Believe me: legalization will not put cartels out of business. There will still be a black market, and it will be harder to stop them.

Okay, check out this video:

youtube.com/watch?v=d-iBJQFMvgo

One poster stated that no one had ever overdosed on marijuana. So I did a web search and found the video. I busted a gut laughing.

Now seriously as a volunteer firefighter I have taken a tour of our local 911 center. The folks their take the job seriously. So any calls like this (if not serious) waste their time that might be needed for someone that is let us pick - suffering from potentially fatal injuries in a car wreck. I have seen people die and I have help save people. So stoned out people calling 911 is a bad thing.

My recreational activity is bicycle touring. One summer while pedaling through San Francisco I viewed a man sitting in a arch of a building. All he wanted was some marijuana. He did not want the food or drink I offered him. Doing nothing but sitting and begging for marijuana.

Another man I saw north of the Bay Area. He zipped past me on his bicycle going north. He came back south about 40 minutes later. He stopped to ask me if I had any marijuana. (I did not have any.) All that time and effort for marijuana and he was missing out on the greatest part of his - bicycling under God’s blue sky on a summer day.

These are just two example of encounters with real people who because of marijuana have lost their life. Oh, sure they are still on the planet, but their hay bales are missing a string.

I cannot speak for those that are non Catholic, but everything I know about being Catholic tells me to try to lift up people and give them hope. Marijuana does neither of these.

God bless

I am a devout Catholic, and although i am not smoking pot for now, I have for many years. pot is NOT A SIN. when i was smoking, I didn’t do it to get stoned.I used it to relax, to take a load off so to speak . it didn’t affect my relationships, or anything else. not at all. i would take a hit or two and be done. it would help me to focus on God, and be more meditative. it’s so sad to see so many of you being so unkind, and so uninformed but judging so freely.

The point is some think it is wrong and some dont. I think it is wrong and will voice what I think. It is not judging, there is right and wrong people for years have been blurring the lines where most people cant tell the difference. Oh and God does not need you to smoke pot to focus on him.

There’s a tremendous difference between saying “let’s all use marijuana to excess!” and “let’s legalize marijuana.”

If it was as simple as “good/neutral = legal,” “bad = illegal” then lots of other things would be illegal.

Lying would be illegal, not just perjury but lying per se.
Adultery would be illegal.
Sex before marriage would be illegal.
Swearing might be illegal.
Fried chicken might be illegal.
Caffeine might be illegal.

And alcohol, of course - alcohol would be illegal.

And there would be approximately eleventy billion people in jail, and the 5 people that weren’t in jail would be working 1,800 days a year, 64 hours a day to pay to house and keep those people.

I’m not commenting on whether marijuana should be legal or illegal. I’m merely saying that “bad = illegal” is not a good enough reason.
