My son doesn’t want to exist

My family and I had a long talk with my 9 year old son tonight. He said to me, as I held him and comforted him as he was crying; that he doesn’t want to exist.

He’s full of fear about everything, wants to know what did he do and he misses his Mom.

So, I asked my fiancé and future mother in law to pray a Rosary novena, I’ll offer up one myself, I asked my parents if their ELCA community has a prayer group and I took my son to Father, my son talked with Father for 45 minutes, received a blessing from Father, who also blessed his stuffed dog Fluffy; and Father heard his Confession.

In addition: I have him wearing a blessed Divine Mercy medal and he has a blessed Divine Mercy prayer card next to a picture of his mother.

Any and all prayers and Mass intentions will be much appreciated; thank you and God bless you all.

Heavenly Father, watch with us over your children and grant that they may be restored to that perfect health which it is Yours alone to give. Praying for the health and wellbeing of your son, for God to lift his fear and suffering. Praying for you and your family in your love and support for him.
 
Prayers that the Holy Spirit will bring those into his life to help him address his fear and provide comfort and guidance.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord,

Saying prayers for your son, and you. May we also pray for his mom? did she pass away?
 
I want to share a scripture that the Lord lead me to today: “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit”. (Psalm 34:18)

Take some time to reflect on that. Read all of Psalm 34 if you have time. 🙂

I pray that God comforts and heals your son. Amen.

Prayers. I hope you are able to find a compassionate therapist who specializes in grief / anxiety! His feelings are so understandable given what he’s been through. The world is an unpredictable and scary vale of tears at times - how much more so for a boy without his mama. Prayers for all of you!
