I think the husband should be glad his wife cares enough about herself and him to dress nicely for both of them! After all, didn’t he day she got some for Christmas?

I personally can’t shop at VS - they don’t carry my size! Let’s not jump to conclusions on that one.

I have two sons and when my youngest was in his early teens I found a swimwear mag in his room. It was a topic for discussion, but not something make a huge deal out of. We just had a casual conversation about it and got rid of it together. I then touched base with the Youth Department at Church to see if they could cover topics like this at Youth Group. THat way, God could touch his heart, and he could confess without feeling like MOM was the impetus for the confession. Better it comes from his own heart, I think.

It does not work well with pre-puberty boys, but when I discovered my teen age son looking at objectionable photo’s of women, I calmly took the magazine and while looking at the center fold made the comment…

“Hmm,she has the same parts that I do and I would have posed differently”

My son got an instant and to a teenage boys mind, a HORRIFYING imagine of his mother in a porn magazine It worked, he never looked at another one again.👍

The best thing to do is not to make a huge deal of it, by doing so, you may make him More curious. Just remove the catalog and remind him that taking things out of your bedroom without permission is wrong.

I would just let it go and not say anything. I would be more careful what i left around though. Maybe where he found it leave something else for him like a bible or something. That ought to get him to stop snooping. You are not going to stop a boy from being curious. Its part of growing up. Now if you found a penthouse etc, later in life, which you probally will then its different. What my mom did to my brother and what i did to my son was when i was cleaning his room and found it i put it out in the open right on top of his bed. Never said a word. Funny it never came up. And the book disappeared. Right now hes too young to make a big deal out of it. Another thing my mom would do if we did something or had something she disaproved of is maybe we should show this to father and see what he thinks. But right now i would let it go.

OMG, this is the best way to deal with this I ever heard! I laughed out loud! My oldest son is only 7, but I am stealing this one, love4mary! That was an inspired parenting moment! You should e-mail that idea to Dr. Laura. She would love that. 👍

I have shopped at Frederick’s, and I do not consider myself to be sinning just by having the catalog! I agree that the models are not sinning either. They are advertising a product. If someone else uses that in a sinful way, that’s their fault, not the model’s! Would y’all say the same about the International Male catalogs my husband gets? Or is it only women modeling underwear that raises your hackles?

If my kids saw it, I would tell them that it’s fancy underwear, and that some of it is for wives to look especially attractive to their husbands. There are plenty of non-sinful uses for lingerie!

I.
I’ve bought underwear from Fredrick’s myself. 🤷 I don’t consider wearing attractive lingerie for my hubby to be sinful. Infact, I would rather order on line or through a catalog then have to go to the store and stand in line with the items.😊

I would just explain that mommy likes to wear nice things under her clothing, but that only adult women are supposed to look at those things. The catalog isn’t sinful, just private and that is how I would explain it to him. I would also discuss going into mom’s things without permission. But I wouldn’t make a big deal about this issue.

Oh my goodness.😃

  1. Lets hope this is th worst trouble he will get into
  2. All children are curious about such things
  3. This would be the time to let your son Know he has a competant adult Dad to talk to about such things.
  4. Do not yell at him
  5. Give Mom a break (she was looking for you)
  6. It may be a good time to impress upon him the difference between lust and beauty.
Just some Thoughts. Many will not agree with them but as a parent no matter what you do there is a line of people willing prove you wrong. The fact that you are so worried about how to handle this correctly proves you truly care for your children and that shows you to be a great parent.👍

:o :bigyikes: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: IF that ever happens here i’m gonna use this idea! 👍

I agree. It’s not that big a deal. I have a book of John Singer Sargent’s art that I was paging through with my son in the room, and when I came to the famous picture of “Madame X,” my son (he’s still young) stopped me from turning the page. He was looking really intently at the picture. I said, “She’s pretty, isn’t she?” and he sort of smiled and said, “Yeah.” I thought it was cute. He’s got good taste in art 😉

So a boy likes to look at pictures of pretty girls? I get the Frederick’s catalog and it isn’t THAT wild. I don’t leave it where my boy can find it but even if he did by some fluke of circumstances I wouldn’t think it was the end of the world.

Look on the bright side – at least you know he likes girls! Count your blessings!
