My son's first communion

Friends,
My son is making 1st communion in May…praise God. I don’t know if I should have a small reception at home or in a restaurant.
Ideas of what you have done are very much appreciated.
Second question, he made his first reconciliation yesterday…can he confess again before May? It just seems so long from now until may.

Congratulations!

I prefer a small home party. But that is just me. Of course he can confess again! We have always done monthly or weekly confession as a family. As soon as they have their first confession they are good to go!
 
Certainly he can confess again before May. Mine started going to regular ( about once a month for us) confession after their first confession. They at least had to come to church with me even if they didn’t actually go to confession. However, they never were nervous or resisted going. I have no idea what they were confessing at that age, but we’ve always had good priests so I know they were getting good direction.

As for the party, do whatever will be easier for you. Our parish has a nice reception afterwards so we did that and then went home for a family dinner. If you are worried about having everything ready before Mass, than make a reservation somewhere. Best wishes to your son!

Only my son and I would be going to confession…is it ok to go first and then let him go after me to confess?

Of course that is ok! It does not matter what order you go. The Church does not legislate things like that.🤷
